Oliver Sayes 45 amp in walnut base. Only had a short time, great with Lascala, Khorn Altec and or bi-amping . I’m in Chattanooga Tn and I’m willing to meet someone in any of the 4 major cities within 2 hours from me. It can be demoed here and sounds incredible with a pair of zu speakers I have. I have the packaging that Oliver shipped it to me in. This is designed to use a preamp but my buddy recently tried it on his Altec 605 without a pre and say that it was the best amp he’s ever tried including his 2a3 monoblocks. I also used it driven by a node and got sufficient volume for the zu in my large open living space. This isn’t Oliver’s basic build it’s all premium parts. Below is the description from Oliver. The details, it’s a single ended 45 amplifier with 6n7 driver and 80 rectifier with ~1.7v input sensitivity for ~1.5 watt output. Parts are finemet core output/choke transformer, film power supply/cathode bypass caps, copper foil/paper/oil coupling capactors, carbon composite resistors, Teflon sockets, $1900
  2. Hi there, this is my first post here! I've recently purchased a Line Magnetic Push-Pull LM34 Integrated amp to go with my Garrard 401 TT and Klipsch Forte III speakers, I feel like the amp too harsh with my speakers, very hot trumpety high-mids, and lack of bass, oomph and flow in the music. I'm starting to get more and more interested in old horn + SET systems, and thought maybe it isn't a bad idea to build a SET amp myself. I don't have experience in electronics etc, but I'm willing to learn, I am based in the UK. I heard great things about Bottlehead, and it seems like their prices are really fair. - Does anybody here have Bottlehead + Klipsch experience ? - Which of the Bottlehead kits would you recommend that I buy? - Do you think a SET Bottlehead kit would make a good match to get some gentleness and musicality out of my very sensitive Klipsch?
  3. It's been awhile since I've posted to the forum for various reasons. However, I thought this would be an appropriate vehicle to allow those interested to see the construction of an amplifier from start to finish..... the ToolShed way. As many of you may know, shortly after the pilgrimage we unexpectedly lost a great addition to our extended Klipsch family, Henry "Scott" Yocum. He was a jovial, kind-hearted, Klipsch lover that I came to know during the several months he was in my queue. We had half a dozen hour-long conversations about everything from music, speakers/amplifiers to food. He will be greatly missed. The amplifier that will be constructed on this build thread is his. Built exactly as he wanted it, with the exception that it will have his name etched into the top plate where the name of the amplifier normally goes. Hopefully, once completed, his family will listen to it through his beloved K-Horns and the music will touch them as it did him. So, if you have interest, tune-in as I'll be posting pics as well as text to walk y'all through this build over the next few weeks. Godspeed Scott..... Matt.
