  1. Hi guys , i hope someone, can help me out with the following issue . I have a pioneer receiver Vsx 920 , so nothing special there. I just bought a new Klipsch R-10 SW woofer , and i ran the MCACC to let pioneer fine tune the speakers and new woofer . i have had the adjust knob at the back set to LFE and woofer gain at 40% as seen on picture below. I have set the the "on switch" to "Auto" And let it run..... he detects my speakers , detects the woofer and al well . After running everything and pioneer is ready with the "fine tuning" Then i start to watch tv and i wait..... but the subwoofer wont turn on automatically . then i start up spotify ...no woofer... a movie.....no woofer I have to keep switching the on and off switch to make use of its woofer . I thought maybe its the wrong cable? So i bought a new cable .. Oehlbach Nf subwoofer cable. still nothing , so i bought another cable of Monster subwoofer 400 sw cable. still nothing... I ran the MCACC again... checked the setting...i thought , maybe the volume was to low on the woofer. i noticed it was set to -10 DB ... so i switched it up to 0 DB , but stil no luck. I did a Hard reset on my reciever...and once again let MCACC run its course.... no luck Now im ran out of ideas, what to do....to make it work on auto setting....
  2. I have Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers that I've bought from 2 years ago and I've been using them frequently ever since. Recently, the right channel speaker sometimes works, and sometimes it doesn't. I noticed yesterday that when I plugged the power cable of the subwoofer (to which the speakers are connected to), the right channel speaker was working for a while like it should, then it stopped. Also, I've also noticed both speakers have a low buzzing sound, and the buzzing sound doesn't go away regardless of changing the volume. But I really just want my right speaker to work again. And by the way, I am not a sound techie so I won't understand a lot of tech jargon. I know that there are so many places to start, but if anyone can help me out with what I should do from the information I just gave, that would be awesome! Thanks!
  3. As the title reads: I know nothing about subs... My current setup as of yesterday - Fronts: RB-35 Center: RC-62 Surrounds: RS-52 Now, the hardest part is going to be convincing my wife that we NEED a sub... Whether this is true or not, she will not likely be receptive to spending another $300+ after I just picked up these RS-52 surrounds for $220 this week... So. Who is willing to educate me? Here is what I want to know: - Will a sub really make a difference? (my guess is yes, it will) - I can probably get away with buying a Polk PSW10 on Amazon (under $100), but is it really worth it? Better than nothing at all? - Ideally, what's the sub to help round-out my system? (I'm assuming RSW10 or RSW15 would be the suggestions?) - Assuming my budget cannot allow the two subs mentioned above ^, what's the "next best thing" - doesn't have to be Klipsch, but preferrably... More questions about subs in general: What's the typical lifespan of a sub for HT? I'm guessing most people just leave them on 24/7? Or is this something you turn on only when playing certain movies, games, albums, etc.? Do you leave the sub on when watching the news? I am happy with my current setup. I'm waiting to pick up the RS-52s this weekend so I'll get them mounted and see how that changes the sound in my room. I'm at a 5.0 setup. Moving forward I think a 5.1 would make sense. I just need to "feel" the difference, and have a little help here with justifying the purchase! Cheers all!
  4. Is there a general volume level for the auto-on to be triggered and turn on the sub. I have an RSW-12. If i am listening at a moderate level at night, I have to crank the volume a bit to get the sub to switch on ... and then I turn the volume back down some. About 15 or 20 minutes later the sub turns off due to the lower volume for night watching while the kids are asleep. What are some of your experiences with this topic? I assume it could also vary on getting a true 5.1 signal from a blu ray versus a stereo or other type of signal from the cable box. Any yes.....I would prefer to have the volume cranked up more all the time.....just not always practice with sleeping kids or the wife making business calls. Thanks.
  5. I got a killer deal on a used RSW-12 on Craigslist in Houston for $350. Thanks Cesar. It is in just about perfect condition and looks super clean with the exception of on very tiny unnoticeable ding that is partially hidden by the grill cover. I will touch up the spot with a black marker at some point I guess. I have wanted one to go with my RF-3II, RB-5, & RC3 setup since I bought them in 03-04. It is replacing the RW-12 that has served me well. I may hook both up and try it out for a while but I really don't feel I need 2 subs. Have been pretty happy with one. Room size is only about 14 x 17. I put the SVS isolation feet on it to reduce the room rattles and vibration downstairs (got to keep the wife happy). So far, so good. I have watched the Eagles blu ray and the sound is great. The San Andreas movie was awesome with the new sub. Will experiment with placement tuning (facing a corner now) over the next couple weeks and likely put my old one on Craigslist for a couple hundred I guess.
  6. Hi there, Got a question on Sub cross-over settings. My receiver Denon AVR x3300w lets me assign the cross-over frequency for the sub. Now reading the spec sheet, the sub says its rated for 120Hz, however, when I look at the back of the sub it says 150Hz. My receiver can go from 40 - 250Hz. Want to know what is the SW-110 rated for, 120Hz as noted on the spec sheet or 150Hz as on the back of the panel. Thanks
  7. I bought a used kg sw subwoofer on ebay and was already aware it was missing the feet. The mounting holes are unthreaded and slightly over 3/8" diameter. The mounting surface is 3/4" thick. The mounting feet must snap in, I'm guessing. Anyone know where I can get OEM feet? Ideally, I'd like to place it horizontal but I'm guessing the feet were removable for flexible positioning. If I can't get feet, should I plug the holes? Suggestions on what to use? Anyone know where I can get a manual? Thanks!
  8. I´ve just bought a pair of R-28F loudspeakers to be used with a pair of R-15M as rear ones. I´d like to know which is the subwoofer that will the best for this combination (The amplifier is a YAMAHA RX-V481). Thank you
  9. Hey guys, I just plugged in an RSW-12 sub I purchased from someone along with a pair of R7 Towers and the RC7 Center. It worked great at first, then I noticed that the tower woofers weren't working hard at all and all of the bass was being sent to the sub, which created this compartmentalized bass sound. I decided to dig into the receiver and maybe set the front and centers to "large" and then adjust the crossover to something like 50hz. However, when I did this, the sub was almost silent. After adjusting a few different ways with combinations of large and small along with different frequencies, the sub now just constantly lets out a loud noise all the time. The noise is max volume even at the lowest setting and persists even when the source is disconnected. Any ideas on what is going on here? I have the sub cross over knob at around 70 now, Auto On enabled, and LFE disabled. I'm using a Pioneer Elite VSX-53 amp
  10. Need some advice on how to setup outdoor speakers 2x AW-650 2x AW-400 CA-800TSW (150w 6ohm) Sony STR-DN840 (7x150w @ 6ohm) Only have the 650s hooked up right now and they sound great. Should I get a simple 2x100w amplifier to power the passive sub? Noob to home speakers so any advice or a simple typed out diagram should help.
  11. Have been combing the forums for a few weeks now, and appreciate the time everyone puts in to help. I am in process of finalizing my speaker list and could definitely use some help with rear surrounds and subs. Below is what I had in mind and it seems from the forums, it is ok, but I was looking for the preferred option. Room is 18' x 16'6" in a basement. MLP will be about 36"-40" from the back wall. RP-280F (L, R) RP-450C (C) RP-250S (Side surrounds) RP-160M (rear surrounds) R-112SW (x2) Request 1) Keeping LCR same, what is preferred for the rear surrounds? RP-160M, RP-250S or RP-250F? The reason I ask is all 3 choices are within ballpark of each other after I consider cost of stands for the RP-160M Request 2) Is it better to have 2 R-112SW vs. 1 R-115SW? (having 2 R-115SW will basically blow my budget) Layout attached. The 8 boxes on side and back wall are columns. Thanks in advance for your advice!!
  12. So I am able to grab a hold of the R12SW (and I can get 2 of them) subwoofer its on special on bestbuy.CA for 500.79$ or I can get the R112SW for 1054.99$ My current setup: R28F Front L/R R25C Center I do not have side or back surrounds yet, later to come. No subwoofer yet of course Hard to decide, or I can just wait even much longer and get the R115SW but I am looking for a nice bang for the buck, its all about the buck help me decide thank you ! I use my system for music, lots of music, sometimes video watching or even gaming sometimes. I have a Onkyo 7.1 Ch am I able to use a Y splitter to put 2 LFE cables in and run them to the 2 subs?
  13. Hello. I am in need of (2) Passive Subwoofers for a pair of KG4. Anyone have them besides Ebay? Thanks!
  14. https://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/ele/6084335237.html Not affiliated. I've seen people asking more than $150 for one, doesn't seem like too shabby of a deal.
  15. Hello, I am currently building up a 5.0 system based on Klipsch speakers. After receiving the Klipsch rp-150m from Amazon and testing them a day long, I figured two things: I absolutely adore the claritiy of the heights the speaker delivers. Secondly, that I am sadly missing the third monitor I had on my fap cheaper Grundig bookshelves. It just feels like something is missing in the bass department with most music. I know that I could or should paire the speakers with a good sub, but but I have doupts that my neighbours would forgive me that. I don´t think I could get myself a subwoofer... the walls of my appartment are so extremly thin and hollow. Now quickly to my question: Do you think it would be a good idea to upgrade to the Klipsch R-28F floorstander or another similar priced floorstander with the third driver, I a missing now? I would just exchange the rp-150m´s I currently have. I am living in Germany and I think about 300Euro is as much as I can spend with a good concience for one speaker( I´m a student). My only doubt about going that way is that I heard in a review that Klipsch made some changes to the horns and the ones rp-150m´s are different than with the older modells. Is that true? Because I really enjoy the sound I have right now. (Except of the feeling that I am missing the base of the music.) I don´t want to sacrifice the nice heights these bookshelfes produce right now. Sadly I don´t find many used klipsch products in my area, so I can´t just buy a used and odler, formerly expensive klipsch floorstander. Also I generally listen to all kind of music, but mostly at low or moderate sound(because of neighbours). I really appreaciate any suggestions! If you need to know a few more things, just tell me. Sincerally David
  16. Hey everyone. New owner of 2 R-10SWi wireless subwoofers. They are amazing. I have them connected to my Yamaha Aventage r-a860 receiver. I live in an apartment so I have to listen at low volumes at night. I have both subwoofers turned to the AUTO(on) feature. If my sound is too low, they eventual turn themselves off while I'm using them. What can I do? I've tried fiddling with the gain etc. I feel I need to listen at slightly uncomfortably volumes for my neighbors to keep em on. At low volumes, they're awesome and really help fill out the sound of my system. I'd rather not have to keep turning them ON and OFF each time I use them and would like to keep using the AUTO function if possible. Thanks for any advice.
  17. Short version, need recommendations for a subwoofer for use with Klipsch Quintet 5.0 speakers to be used as a PC speaker surround system for games & music. Full story: My beloved Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 PC surround speakers finally bit the dust. It might be repairable, I think it's the transformer (progressively worse humming), but the control pod has been barely functional for years, so time to get something new I think. Except hardly anyone makes high quality PC surround systems anymore. Logitech used to (Z5500 I think) but they discontinued and replaced with something much poorer. So I've been cobbling together a system from parts. I started with Klipsch Quintet 5.0 speakers that were on sale at Newegg for $239 (still are until Monday I think). I searched high and low for a compact AV receiver, but nobody makes one - they are all standard audio/video equipment size - big.. But just by random chance I found a hybrid (tube/SS) barebones 5.1 amp that is small enough to fit on my desk. (Dared DV-6C if anyone's interested.) So now I need a compact reasonably priced sub to accompany the system. I watch no movies on it, it's just video games (hence the surround) and music. So I want something crisp and clean - games do not rely on low frequency effects in the same way that movies do. So looking for a compact, tight sub in the $200 range that complements the Quintets. Doesn't need a ton of power, it will sit right under my desk. Also should have a speaker-level input, as the 5.1 amp does not have any other outputs (I said it was bare-bones. 5.1 channel analog RCA inputs, 2 channel analog auxiliary RCA inputs, 6 speaker terminal pairs and that's it). Looks like I missed all the sale pricing of the Klipsch SW-350 as it has been in the process of being discontinued I think - that might have been perfect. (SW-450 is on sale for $199 at newegg, but it's too big. For reference, the old ProMedia sub was 15"Lx11"Wx12"H) Any recommendations?
  18. One of the spring clips on the speaker terminal (subwoofer) has broken. Are replacements available? Haven't found an aftermarket replacement the same measurements. Just contacted Klipsch support. Thanks.
  19. Hi everyone, I'm interested in upgrading my system to R-15PM monitors with a small sub. I would like to listen to high-res audio-files mainly through my Computer/the R-15PM's integrated DAC but I can't find any information on what the dac is capable of. As the speakers will be placed in a small room, I wonder whether the R-10SW is big enough as a sub or if the R-12SW is a very big step up. Thanks in advance for your answers, Tim TL;DR: What are the specs of the R-15PM's DAC? How big is the difference between R-10 and R12 subs?
  20. I bought this Klipsch subwoofer (KSW-10) new around 1998. It's worked great for 19 years until last month. When I start watching TV or a DVD, I will usually (but not always) hear one or two loud "booms" in succession. It's not a part of the soundtrack. This happens about five minutes into the program but only if the sub hasn't been used that day. I'm getting settled into a show and out of nowhere it sounds like a heavy book hitting the floor from a top shelf. This never happened until recently and I made no changes to settings or setup. No sudden weather changes either. The sub still works, and I haven't heard it happen with music (even with a pipe organ CD.) I did try to turn down the level from '11' (yes, it really does go to 11) to '6'. It still happens and now more frequently. I searched Google, the FAQs and other forum posts and haven't turned up any answers. Has anyone run into this problem before? Thanks
  21. Hey everyone! So I just ordered a R-115sw and after doing some measurements it would probably work better for space issues if I had the R-112sw instead. If anyone has a R-112sw and wants to upgrade I would like to trade. If not, I'll do fine with the R-115sw and have to manage . Anyways, your used R-112sw + $250 for my brand new sealed R-115sw. I am located in Southern California. Thanks for reading!!
  22. Hi guys just like the title says... I'll entertain new or used. If you have another sub you have had great experience with that you are selling I will look at those too! Thanks everyone
  23. Many moons have passed by since I last posted.... FYI; recently purchased a SB16 from SVS and am working to match it up with a pair of Cornwall IIIs. Currently looking for the best low pass filter freq. and I am guessing somewhere between 40 and 50 Hz since the CW3s are not in a corner. Suggestions are welcomed! As usual, room position is the biggest problem, mostly for the sub, and I have very few options. I do like this sealed sub already - it sounds much better than other subs I have tried. Cheers, Jim
  24. Downsizing my collection so this is up for sale. It's a 15" Klipsch woofer (I'm not sure which model) in a custom built box made of MDF and Walnut Veneer. It's ported and the box is pretty well made (made by a local carpenter). Has a very high WAF as well since it doesn't look crazy and has a nice wood grain on all sides. Also included to complete your setup, is a HSU Research Model 500 Amplifier. It's has 500 watts and can be configured to your unique set up with multiple hookup options. I do have the original box for this. In addition, I have the following crossover chips included: 34hz, 51hz, 75hz, and 62hz (not pictured as its installed in the amp). Bass on this setup is great. Very deep, low, musical with plenty of power to rock the whole house if you so desire. Amp alone was $500 and sub and box w/ sub could easily fetch $200. I'm selling the whole setup for $350. Due to size and weight of sub and box only local pickup in Santa Clara, CA (40 minutes south of San Francisco). It's also set up so you can come audition in my home. Message me your number if you are interested.
  25. I'm 72 and have some high-frequency hearing loss. Bought a new SUHD Samsung TV and would like to improve dialogue as well have a nice music system (no hard rock). I am definitely not an audiophile (it's like a foreign language). Thinking about Quintet set of speakers (like the size) and using an old Mirage BPS100 sub that I already have to make up a 5.1 system. Might want to add Atmos speakers at a later date. Maybe a Yamaha RX-V581 avr that will also permit an outdoor patio zone. Will this be an improvement over 70s era Yamaha CR-840 avr and 2.1 Edge wall/Mirage sub that I am now using ? Room is about 13 x 15 and partially open on both ends.
