Hey everyone. New owner of 2 R-10SWi wireless subwoofers. They are amazing. I have them connected to my Yamaha Aventage r-a860 receiver. I live in an apartment so I have to listen at low volumes at night. I have both subwoofers turned to the AUTO(on) feature. If my sound is too low, they eventual turn themselves off while I'm using them. What can I do? I've tried fiddling with the gain etc. I feel I need to listen at slightly uncomfortably volumes for my neighbors to keep em on. At low volumes, they're awesome and really help fill out the sound of my system. I'd rather not have to keep turning them ON and OFF each time I use them and would like to keep using the AUTO function if possible. Thanks for any advice.

Short version, need recommendations for a subwoofer for use with Klipsch Quintet 5.0 speakers to be used as a PC speaker surround system for games & music. Full story: My beloved Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 PC surround speakers finally bit the dust. It might be repairable, I think it's the transformer (progressively worse humming), but the control pod has been barely functional for years, so time to get something new I think. Except hardly anyone makes high quality PC surround systems anymore. Logitech used to (Z5500 I think) but they discontinued and replaced with something much poorer. So I've been cobbling together a system from parts. I started with Klipsch Quintet 5.0 speakers that were on sale at Newegg for $239 (still are until Monday I think). I searched high and low for a compact AV receiver, but nobody makes one - they are all standard audio/video equipment size - big.. But just by random chance I found a hybrid (tube/SS) barebones 5.1 amp that is small enough to fit on my desk. (Dared DV-6C if anyone's interested.) So now I need a compact reasonably priced sub to accompany the system. I watch no movies on it, it's just video games (hence the surround) and music. So I want something crisp and clean - games do not rely on low frequency effects in the same way that movies do. So looking for a compact, tight sub in the $200 range that complements the Quintets. Doesn't need a ton of power, it will sit right under my desk. Also should have a speaker-level input, as the 5.1 amp does not have any other outputs (I said it was bare-bones. 5.1 channel analog RCA inputs, 2 channel analog auxiliary RCA inputs, 6 speaker terminal pairs and that's it). Looks like I missed all the sale pricing of the Klipsch SW-350 as it has been in the process of being discontinued I think - that might have been perfect. (SW-450 is on sale for $199 at newegg, but it's too big. For reference, the old ProMedia sub was 15"Lx11"Wx12"H) Any recommendations?

I bought this Klipsch subwoofer (KSW-10) new around 1998. It's worked great for 19 years until last month. When I start watching TV or a DVD, I will usually (but not always) hear one or two loud "booms" in succession. It's not a part of the soundtrack. This happens about five minutes into the program but only if the sub hasn't been used that day. I'm getting settled into a show and out of nowhere it sounds like a heavy book hitting the floor from a top shelf. This never happened until recently and I made no changes to settings or setup. No sudden weather changes either. The sub still works, and I haven't heard it happen with music (even with a pipe organ CD.) I did try to turn down the level from '11' (yes, it really does go to 11) to '6'. It still happens and now more frequently. I searched Google, the FAQs and other forum posts and haven't turned up any answers. Has anyone run into this problem before? Thanks

Hi guys just like the title says... I'll entertain new or used. If you have another sub you have had great experience with that you are selling I will look at those too! Thanks everyone

Hey everyone! So I just ordered a R-115sw and after doing some measurements it would probably work better for space issues if I had the R-112sw instead. If anyone has a R-112sw and wants to upgrade I would like to trade. If not, I'll do fine with the R-115sw and have to manage . Anyways, your used R-112sw + $250 for my brand new sealed R-115sw. I am located in Southern California. Thanks for reading!!

Many moons have passed by since I last posted.... FYI; recently purchased a SB16 from SVS and am working to match it up with a pair of Cornwall IIIs. Currently looking for the best low pass filter freq. and I am guessing somewhere between 40 and 50 Hz since the CW3s are not in a corner. Suggestions are welcomed! As usual, room position is the biggest problem, mostly for the sub, and I have very few options. I do like this sealed sub already - it sounds much better than other subs I have tried. Cheers, Jim

Downsizing my collection so this is up for sale. It's a 15" Klipsch woofer (I'm not sure which model) in a custom built box made of MDF and Walnut Veneer. It's ported and the box is pretty well made (made by a local carpenter). Has a very high WAF as well since it doesn't look crazy and has a nice wood grain on all sides. Also included to complete your setup, is a HSU Research Model 500 Amplifier. It's has 500 watts and can be configured to your unique set up with multiple hookup options. I do have the original box for this. In addition, I have the following crossover chips included: 34hz, 51hz, 75hz, and 62hz (not pictured as its installed in the amp). Bass on this setup is great. Very deep, low, musical with plenty of power to rock the whole house if you so desire. Amp alone was $500 and sub and box w/ sub could easily fetch $200. I'm selling the whole setup for $350. Due to size and weight of sub and box only local pickup in Santa Clara, CA (40 minutes south of San Francisco). It's also set up so you can come audition in my home. Message me your number if you are interested.

While waiting to find a Klipsch kg SW subwoofer locally, I'm considering reconnecting to my system the powered, ported Sony SAWM40 subwoofer I have. Don't laugh; I bought it used, and cheap! Part of what annoys me about the Sony is, most of the time I listen to NPR/FM radio, and when voices pronounce words with the letter "B" or "P" I hear a slight booming "pop" clearly coming from the subwoofer. In phonetics it's called a Bilabial Stop, which pretty much means the lips come together at the end of the sound for that sharp consonant end. I can turn the output level of the subwoofer down and eliminate the issue, but then the subwoofer adds nothing to music. It's either one or the other. Is this common with subwoofers? With powered subwoofers? Is it the 12" size of my driver? I've monkeyed with the level and crossover and can't fix one without silencing the other.

I'm 72 and have some high-frequency hearing loss. Bought a new SUHD Samsung TV and would like to improve dialogue as well have a nice music system (no hard rock). I am definitely not an audiophile (it's like a foreign language). Thinking about Quintet set of speakers (like the size) and using an old Mirage BPS100 sub that I already have to make up a 5.1 system. Might want to add Atmos speakers at a later date. Maybe a Yamaha RX-V581 avr that will also permit an outdoor patio zone. Will this be an improvement over 70s era Yamaha CR-840 avr and 2.1 Edge wall/Mirage sub that I am now using ? Room is about 13 x 15 and partially open on both ends.

Greetings all, Seeking consensus regarding using a high pass or full range for my subwoofer. Two different techs at the subwoofer manufacturer garnered two different responses. McIntosh rep says high pass. Seems to me on a "common sense" level that filtering all that signal through the sub , then back to the main amp would degrade that "McIntosh sound". Thank you in advance. I don't know much but I'm learning. System: McIntosh MA5200 100 watt Heresy III speakers SBS SB-2000 500 watt, 1100 peak

I have an RW-10d and the LCD display doesn't come on and if I hook up audio input I hear nothing. The fuse is fine. I took the back plate off and I have 120V AC on the power supply board; However, the CD+ to CD- voltage reads as 0V DC. I presume this means that the power supply is bad. I'd just prefer to replace the entire board if possible. I contacted support and they told me "Unfortunately we no longer have the amplifier for that speaker available. You may need to locate a replacement using a secondary market". Any ideas where I can get replacement parts or what I should try?

I have done a search and am not finding much for results, but my RW-10d died the other day. I turned it on, it made a crackle and died. The fuse is blown, but the board looks fine, no blown or melted resistors. I found one post where the users had replaced the MOSFETs and stated theirs were working again, but that was almost 6 years ago and I was wondering if it was still working, or did it at least last a year or two? I know most people replace the plate amp, but that's almost half the price of a new sub and I would prefer to not do that. If it comes to that then I will just upgrade to a new one, as long as they're not having the same problems as I see many have. I contacted klipsch for advice and have yet to hear anything back from them also. And, if I can't fix it, what is comparable as a replacement?

My SW10-II was new in 1994, and I'm the original owner. When I power it on, it makes a constant horrible, loud noise, like a T-Rex taking a dump, only louder and worse. It only just started doing this. I checked the cables, etc. They seem OK. And it worked OK all day, even after I did a Denon setup/calibration. And watched some TV and music. Then the next time I powered it on, it makes this roaring noise and I have to shut it off immediately. Indeed, I did move the speaker because I was setting up a new amp, and maybe the jiggling broke something loose that was "old"? I emailed a local "shop" with the symptoms, and he said: " your power supply is going out and the amp needs to be refurbished. " Anyone know about this kind of failure? Thanks -Dave

I've just started the process of building 2 ported subs for nearfield in my basement theater. I ordered 2 of the diysoundgroup ported 15" kits. Kit information can be found here: http://www.diysoundgroup.com/ported-subwoofers-1/15-cube.html I am using 2 of the Parts Express buyout Legacy EF drivers, initially pointed out by Fuzzy Dog in another thread: The Parts Express drivers are still available, can be found here: http://www.parts-express.com/15-famous-maker-dvc-high-excursion-aluminum-cone-subwoofer-4-ohms-per-coil--299-700

8/15/2016: Klipsch RSW-12 Subwoofer Repair by Edwards Electronics (via eBay) Executive summary: 30-day total turnaround (including cross-country shipping), $184.00 total cost, completely fixed. Communication could have been better. Details: I wanted to start this as a new thread so anyone could easily find this thread during forum searches. I have a Klipsch RSW-12 subwoofer that went dead almost two years ago. No lights, no response of any kind. I did all the normal first-line troubleshooting; checked the fuse, wall outlet for power, etc. I gave it a light smack. No success. At that time, I came to this forum and was unable to find any information on troubleshooting, parts availability, nor repairs (I'm not certain how hard I looked), but I darn well wasn't going to throw away an RSW-12 simply because it no longer worked! So I hung onto it hoping one day I could get it repaired. One day I was randomly searching eBay, probably for the keyword "Klipsch" and came across the eBay "Buy-It-Now" repair service specifically listing Klipsch RSW subwoofer repair! Yes! I understand that the seller, eBay handle "edwards-electronics", has eBay listings for all kinds of subwoofers, not just Klipsch, but they (he?) certainly seem to specialize in subwoofer repair. They have an EXCELLENT eBay feedback rating, and even though the price was what I would consider a little pricey ($165 +$19s/h = $184.00), I did appreciate the 'flat-rate' fee (no surprises). I also appreciated that they wanted me to send in JUST the back-panel & the amp assembly, not the entire subwoofer (and we all know who badly shipping a subwoofer speaker can go). Most of all, I was grateful simply to find a repair service for this amp. So, per instructions from Edwards Electronics, I removed the rear speaker and front 'speaker' (passive radiator), removed the rear electrical panel, and the amp assembly from inside the subwoofer (all was easy), and took lots of photos while doing it so I wouldn't have any questions when it came to putting it back together. The entire process only take a single tool; Torx T20 screwdriver. Nothing else. I wrapped the panel, amp, and connecting wires in bubble wrap, and shipped it all via UPS to Mesa, Arizona (residential address, btw). It cost me $24.04 via UPS ground with $300 insurance from Florida. I shipped it on Friday 7/15/2016, and UPS tracking showed it arrived on Thursday 7/21/2016 - 6 days. Other than the UPS tracking, I received no notification from Edwards Electronics. I gave it several days, and sent an eBay message to them on Aug-05 (about 15 days with no word from them) just to verify that they received the amp. I received a response two days later letting me know the amp was probably done. In researching this, I noticed that I did NOT follow the directions he provided to TEXT him if I needed to contact him. In that response, he indicated his 'technician' was out for a couple of days sick. I received an email from PayPal on Aug-10 that the sub was on it's way back to me. Tracking shows USPS accepted the package on Aug-12, and it was sent via USPS Priority Mail 2-Day shipping. I received the subwoofer amplifier back today, August 15th. I looked everything over very carefully (without disassembling anything) and I could not see a single solder repair. But. like I said, there where places I certainly couldn't see, and perhaps the repair involved replacing a complete board or subassembly. I have no idea what was wrong, or what was repaired. there was nothing in the box upon it's return. The original ad indicated that in addition to being repair, it would be updated: "We Will Repair Amp - Upgrade To Latest Specifications - Fix Sound Input / Output Issues - Install Much Better Parts" I have no idea if any of this was done or not. I notice that another eBay repair service also makes mention of replacing some troublesome resistors present in Klipsch subwoofers. I reassembled the subwoofer, hooked it up, crossed my fingers, and turned it on... Total success. The light comes on, and the subwoofer works! I can't speak to any tonal characteristics, as I now live in an apartment, and can't even use this subwoofer at this time (but I fully expect to in the future), but it certainly seems to be working fine, as it did originally. So given that's the bottom line, I'm very happy. I do wish that I had received some sort of notification when they received it so I didn't have to worry, and it would have been nice to have some sort of 'technician repair notes' in the box upon it's return, especially with regard to replacing/updating and troublesome components.

My KSW-200 is having some issues and I am looking for a replacement. Locally, several folks are selling KSW-12's at good prices, but I am concerned about the inputs. I have read the Klipsch FAQ's and the online manuals, but need some help interpreting what I am reading. Simply, with my KSW200 I have a single RCA sub cable going from my receiver to the sub. Plus is does have Line In L/R, and Line our L/R RCA jacks. The KSW-12 does not have that subwoofer input jack. It has RCA L/R. IS there a reason the KSW-12 doesn't have the Sub RCA input? So I am confused as to how I would set this up with the single sub cable?? Maybe I am overthinking this? Thanks in advance, Joel

Hello everyone. I bought a 6.1 set of Icon speakers in October of 2008, and last week my XW-500D subwoofer died. There is a little text display on the top, and when I toggle the power switch it will light up for half a second before fading out. It also doesn't go BOOM BOOM BOOM anymore. That has been the extent of my troubleshooting so far. This brick cost a pretty penny back in 2008, but I am not sentimental about it. I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for trying to repair it. Otherwise, I'd like to solicit recommendations for replacing it. My den is 22' x 22', and this would be for exclusively for movies. I am not opposed to moving to a 6.2 setup, if there is any merit to that layout. Thanks in advance for your input! Darwin

What a deal this could be! It has a nice cabinet and a perfect speaker. The plate amplifier is probably dead but does that really matter? It shouldn't be a problem for someone who knows what they are doing and could revive it. I offer it for someone in the Atlanta area as a project for only $34.78. Otherwise it's heading for the recyclers. /Steve

I just purchased a used KSW 100 subwoofer and upon getting it home, I noticed that the paper cone has separated from the plastic cap that creates the opening in the sub. I was able to put it back on, but I can now see some foam rubber protruding when I look into the hole. Does anyone know the best way to fix this or to get access to a manual or video that will show me how to fix this? Thanks
