  1. In a predicament, warranty vs great deal. I have found a SPL120 subwoofer for sale for $300 locally. He has all packaging, but apparently damage occurred during shipping (has two corner dings) and he used for two weeks while waiting for his new one. The other option is getting a brand new R-12SW from Costco locally for $250 and it will have full warranty along with costco match. I've heard mixed reviews on the reliability of klipsch subwoofer amps and am curious if anyone else has had issues with them. Is it worth the difference in performance to roll the dice on this sub from offerup? Thanks,
  2. So a co-worker tricked me into entering to money pit that is high end audio equipment a couple months ago, and unfortunately I'm getting hungrier and hungrier for upgrades everyday. It all started with him selling me his Heresy III's (he built himself some amazing La Scala clones) and I started slow on the equipment. I grabbed a decent turntable (Pro-ject debut carbon EVO) as vinyl was my main focus initially, and then settled for an Emotiva TA-100 to put it all together. Within a week I had ordered an Emotiva 8" subwoofer to help fill out the low end, but it's not exactly filling the void as I'd hoped. I've spiraled uncontrollably since then, and now the set up has removed the TA-100 for a Schiit Mani and a PrimaLuna Dialogue Premium Integrated. I just added a Bluesound Node 2i for Tidal streaming, and now I feel like the sub is a real weak link. The Heresy III's sound amazing solo, but without a sub I feel like I'm definitely missing something on the low end, but the Emotiva sub - though warm in tone and surprisingly fast- just doesn't fill the void properly. Does anyone have experience with similar equipment that has a good recommendation for a fitting sub? I'd prefer to not spend more than about $500 if possible - but if there's a specific sub that you know would fit this system perfectly I'd be open to any recommendations. I'd really prefer to find the right sub to balance everything out so I could start focusing on actually listening to the music and quit focusing on what else I need. Also, all RCA's are from Mogami and the speaker wires are Audioquest Rocket 44's Thanks in advance, -Dom Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO -> Schiit Mani / Bluesound Node 2i -> PrimaLuna Dialogue Premium Integrated -> Klipsch Heresy III's
  3. This is a vintage cabinet for a Klipsch Rebel corner subwoofer. I purchased it with the intent to rebuild it, but lost time and momentum. To be functional it will need a 15" driver as well as an amp to drive it (I have a new plate amp that I'd be willing to add for $75). Pick up in the northern Virginia/DC area.
  4. Hi! I've recently added a klipsch sub (r-115sw) to my home audio system, and I was wondering wether to plug my sub and amp though LFE or a RCA Y-splitter. I mainly use my system for music and in regards to that, i've heard differing statements. Some say LFE is the best option for movies and RCA the best option for music. Others even say that for an untrained ear like mine, I wouldn't even notice the difference between LFE and RCA. So what i'm asking is, if my main use for my system is listening to music, should I connect my sub and amp through LFE or RCA? If any of you have any suggestions as to what cable would be good/compatible with my sub, I would be grateful. Thanks!
  5. is there a way to create a piezocrystal subwoofer that can hit 1hz or lower?
  6. Hi everyone, I just purchased a Klipsch R-115SW subwoofer. I also have a SVS PB-13 ultra that I've kept right next to the Klipsch for testing. I ran some tests and the Klipsch sounded louder and more punchy, to my surprise. However, after a few tests I noticed the Klipsch was emanating a hum noise. After doing some experimenting here's what I know: 1) When the Klipsch is on and not connected to anything it does not hum 2) When the Klipsch is on and ANY audio connector is connected to it, it will hum, even if the audio connector is not connected to the receiver! 3) If I take the exact same audio connector and plug it into the SVS I have no hum from the SVS. The Klipsch's power plug only has 2 prongs and no ground level. The SVS cord has a ground level. It seems to me that the Klipsch's input ports are overly sensitive or defective. The hum is very loud at max volume and does get quieter as the sub's gain drops. However, the hum only vanishes once the sub's gain is 0. Please help, I really like this sub and I don't know how to fix it! Thanks, Prem
  7. Hello I'm new to the forum and happy to be a part of it! I have a pair of Klipsch KW-120 THX subwoofers without the amp. Is it worth buying the amp or should I sell them and buy a powered Sub. I currently have a Pb4000 pro and the THX ultra 2 series as my front stage. Anyone have experience with the THX subs? Or can I run them with another type amplifier? I may be interested in selling them if the price is right. Im in the Tampa bay area in Florida. Please let me know what you think.
  8. I currently have a pair of Cherry Khorns driven by an Audio Nirvana 300b tube amplifier designed by David Dicks of Commonsense Audio. I was apprehensive about purchasing this amp due to reading comments about the design and assembly characteristics described by a plethora of audio enthusiasts in a negative light but the common thread that was described was that their reviews were based solely on the design and components and not a physical audio experience. Every review I read by someone who had actually heard this amplifier indicated a premium audio experience and for me, that came at a cost of just under $2000. I recieved a letter from David Dicks stating that this was the last AN-300b to be sold as "New" due to their weight and his increasing age. Well, I am very pleased with the results however, I'm just getting started with my system and I'm looking to add on. Starting with a subwoofer(s) that will pair well with my Khorns. I am new to the audiophile world so I have been all over the place with ignorance and questions alike but I've been reading feverishly to try and reign in my thoughts and present "realistic" questions but I'll leave that to you to decide. First, a breakdown of my rooms and intended use. I am currently remodeling and preparing a theater room in my current house. The dimensions are 11'6"W × 15'10L × 7'10"H. I also have another house that I plan to remodel and move into in a few years where I intend to have a theater room in the basement with a much larger space and there are patio doors that can open up for out entertainment so I don't mind preparing equipment now. The Khorns sound great but I want to add to the low frequency for heart thumbing bass with music as well as theater surround as the system grows. I have seen a few recommendations but I understand enough to know that I don't know $#!@ about how this works in terms of pairing these speakers to account for delays as well as any other issues that I might be completely unaware of. I understand that the Khorns produce sound down to 20hz but it's insufficient for my taste, especially with such loud and clear highs. I also understand that these speakers are highly efficient as well as high quality and I fear that a sub-par subwoofer would take away from their performance. So I am considering either the THX-1200-SW subwoofer with the KA-1000-THX amplifier or possibly moving up to the KPT-684-SW with dual 18" drivers. If went this route I was considering a Behringer EP4000 with twice the wattage as the KA-1000-THX for a quarter the price. Here are a few questions that I have. If I purchased the THX-1200-SW and later decided to add a second one, would I also need a second amplifier? If I went with the KPT-684-SW would this present any other issues considering it's a commercial subwoofer? Another question I have is for my current stereo setup, I am using only the integrated two channel tube amplifier and is does not have an LFE output. Can I safely connect either of the above mentioned amplifiers and subs to the high output connections in conjunction with the Khorns?
  9. ITEM SOLD. Thanks. Sub is available--I'll get around to listing it sometime. $725 IS FOR SOURCE SPEAKERS ONLY. GROTTO SUB IS $350. LOCAL PICKUP 19380 ONLY. Or, you can pay and arrange for U-Ship or other shipping. Condition is 9/10. As a second owner, I never have rated anything over 8/10; but these are in such perfect condition I will break my rule. Pet-free, kid free, smoke free, dust free home. The tilt-able bases allow the vertical angle to be set for seated or standing listeners. A very cool idea and can be used with or without the original spikes. Martin Logan CLS2 Source. Hybrid stats with cone woofers that integrate quite nicely with panels. Always kept covered. Vacuumed with a Kirby G4 ('nuff said) horsehair brush very carefully, LIGHTLY and gently several times per year, although they did not need it because I have electrostatic air filters on furnace/AC system and due to allergies always use filtered air in the house year round. I do not think you will ever find a nicer pair than these Martin Logan Source CLS electrostatic hybrid speakers in this ad! I will be sad to see them go, but I have not used them in a year. They have been sock-stored in my living room, displaced by Merlin VSM-M speakers I picked up locally. They are ready to be picked up at the front door. My 15W Cyrus Brenneman Stereo-15 EL84 amplifier drove them fabulously in a 13' X 18' X 8' living room open to dining room. So much so, that I did not feel I needed the Grotto subwoofer, in fact, guests at first did not believe the powerful lows coming from the Source were WITHOUT the subwoofer on. But, if you take time and attention, the Grotto will blend in just marvelously and seamlessly. For Rap/RnB/HH music, a sub is almost always helpful, of course, and a large room will benefit from the Grotto or any tight musical sub. Please see pictures at Audioasylum or Audiomart. Thanks. Grotto is available separately for $350 and I can do a deal if someone buys both--picked up at front door. https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649631749-martin-logan-source-speakers-immaculate-condition-grotto-subwoofer-optional/ Unless you are OCD, these speakers are flawless. They were always kept covered by me and the first owner--in fact--we both babied these. The platform they come with is unique in that by just twisting the panels 180 degrees around, you can raise the tilt 15 degrees for parties with standing guests, or leave them level. Ingenious design. I read that Martin Logan put significant engineering effort into the panel and bass integration and the new CLS2 bracing that is now on all their speakers. These have tremendous gal appeal. Available for front door pickup in West Chester, PA 19380. They fit easily in a 4 dr sedan like a Honda Accord or Acura TL. Comes with ALL accessories all in EXCELLENT condition. Rating them 8/10 as I am the second owner. You will not be disappointed; what you get is what is described, always. Thank you. Martin Logan Grotto subwoofer is excellent condition is available separately at $350. Rating this 7/10 because it has some slight smudges not noticeable from a distance. It is quite in nice shape--and c'mon, it's a sub that sits in a corner. This got hardly used. My significant other loved these speakers, but low frequencies make her tense! I have voluminous ++Feedback at all the usual suspect sites under this same name: NuRxHunter What you will pick up at front door: 1 PAIR Martin Logan Source CLS2 pair of speakers AND ALL ORIGINAL ACCESSORIES, including: 1 Tilt Platform 8 ML Spikes 2 Energizing adapters 2 ML Sock covers 2 User Manuals Everything looks as new SPECIFICATIONS Frequency Response 42–22,000 Hz ±3dB Recommended Amplifier Power 20‒400 watts per channel Horizontal Dispersion 30° Vertical Dispersion 28" (71cm) line source Sensitivity 90 dB/2.83 volts/meter Impedance 5 Ohms, 1.6 @ 20kHz. 10. G'DAY Klipsch I can't find the connection instructions for the Klipsch 40 subwoofer unit to the soundbar or a link to these instructions. The connection of these two units are a crucial part of my sound bar set up so I'm finding this extremely frustrating. I'm not very techy so could you please help me. Thanks for your help,,,,,,,,,,,,,,from Frosty
  11. Hi everyone, I'm interested in upgrading my system to R-15PM monitors with a small sub. I would like to listen to high-res audio-files mainly through my Computer/the R-15PM's integrated DAC but I can't find any information on what the dac is capable of. As the speakers will be placed in a small room, I wonder whether the R-10SW is big enough as a sub or if the R-12SW is a very big step up. Thanks in advance for your answers, Tim TL;DR: What are the specs of the R-15PM's DAC? How big is the difference between R-10 and R12 subs?
  12. Hi all, First owner of TWO SVS SB-16 Ultra's, purchased directly from SVS. $1,100 each, or $2,000 for both. Both are piano gloss finish and in excellent condition. Great subs - perfect for music and great for home theater as well. I've been running these with my RF-7 III's (also for sale), and they sound great together. One sub has all original packaging. The other has MOST of its original packaging - missing a couple of the foam inserts. Shipping is available - would be open to splitting costs within reason. We can discuss. Local pickup also available - I'm located in NJ just outside of Atlantic City. Everything for sale right now. If you'd like to get both subs and the RF-7 III's, I could knock off another $200: SVS SB-16 Ultra's: $1,100 each or $2,000 for the pair. (Piano Gloss) RF-7 III's: $2,000/pair (Walnut) RF-83's: $500/pair (Black) *Due to COVID-19, I cannot offer an in home audition at this time. All equipment is in perfect working order and excellent cosmetic condition. Someone mentioned being unable to direct message me yesterday. If you run into issues or don't hear back, leave a comment on this thread. Pictures below.
  13. For the same price, which is better? It's for my bedroom, my set up is two r-51m and a r-52 in front and two r-41m as rear speakers. I appreciate any help.
  14. Hey guys. So i have been looking at the Klipsch C-310ASWi. I don't remember reading anything about it here though. Doesn't anyone have a couple of these? I am quite interested in hearing your thoughts about them. I have a hard time deciding between these and SVS. I just really want to stick with Klipsch you know. Any input will be appreciated.
  15. My klipsch r-100sw subwoofer amp got burn due to a lightning. I am looking for a suitable plate amp or any kind of amp that goes with the speaker because I cannot afford a new one. I am from Sri Lanka and cannot find any agent for klipsch for parts also. That is why I am looking for a third party amp. I can buy online from any site. So please guide me to a place. Thanks.
  16. Hi! I've recently bought a klipsch sub and hooked it up to my receiver using the cable from the attached image. I chose this cable because my receiver only has one input for sub pre out. When playing music, no base comes from the sub. I'm trying to stay away from using LFE cable because I mainly use my system for music, but do anyone have an idea why this connection doesn't work?
  17. Hello! So the Klipsch R112SW is on sale at $399 and I am looking for a good 12 inch sub for my system, however I have heard that the amp gives out after a few months and I is faulty. So My question is should I take a chance with the R-112SW or go with the R-120SW or the older version R-12SW? 112sw has a max 600W amp while the other two have a 400W amp. A bit new to this stuff so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  18. Hi all, Selling a pair of SB2000 SVS Subs "black ash". Tight and great sounding subs. Id prefer to sell both. Local pickup preferred. If you would like to have them shipped please contact me and maybe we can work something out. I called SVS once and they wanted 50.00 for each box so I didn't order more. The subs are in very good condition. These subs still have transferable warranty left. I live approx 15 miles north of Louisville, KY If you have interest please message me for contact info etc. Thanks
  19. Please I need your advice. I have just bought some Herresy speakers, and now I have got interested in a subwoofer Klipsch R-12SW, but my chinese tube amplifier only have 4 inputs and 1 output (for speakers). Is it possible to connect the subwoofer to the amplifier or should I just forget it? Thank you MICHAEL
  20. Hi. I have a ProMedia THX 2.1 and the right speaker is going out. I'm thinking of upgrading my desktop speakers something larger powered by a amp... BUT I'd love to put this subwoofer to work in my new desktop system. The amp I'm going to use has a sub out, but I'm wondering if there's a way to wire it to the Klipsch subwoofer (from the ProMedia THX 2.1 system. Seems like it should be doable as the sub has it's own amp, etc. Thanks in advance, Eric S.
  21. I'm building a new house and I'm installing 5 R-2650-CSM II IN-CEILING SPEAKER for the sound system in the great room; 3 in the front and two in the back. What subwoofer option is the best to pair with these speakers? Bonus question - what AV receiver characteristics should I look for with these speakers? Thanks,
  22. Up for sale is a Klipsch SW10 II subwoofer in the black finish. It has a 10" woofer in front and a 12" passive radiator in the back. It works great, but I just don't have a need for it asking $100.
