  1. The Set-Up So, I just made the switch from the pathetic world of sound-bars and switched 😎 to A/V Receiver + x2 (Klipsch's RP-8060FA) Floor-standing Speakers (R/L - 150W RMS / 600W Peak) + (x1 (75W RMS/300W Peak) Center Speaker + x2 (45W RMS) Surround Back (R/L) speakers + x1 (150W) 10" Sub [taken from the Klipsch Reference Cinema Bundle]). All of my speakers from by Klipsch. We are going to use the system for both movies and music. Challenge: I'm looking for a solid A/V Receiver to connect my entire system to, utilizing the full capabilities of the speakers, but also being smart and cost effective. Right now, I'm thinking about getting the Denon X3700H + getting a 200W amp to connect the pre-out of the Denon receiver to. And all of these speakers are going to be connected using 16 gauge OFC wire and banana plugs. My Questions: What's the most cost effective, high-quality approach to accomplishing this? Is the Denon X3700H Receiver the right way to go? What amp should I purchase? Is there anything else I should think about investing into to that can enhance the performance of my system? Any and all advice is welcomed and appreciated! Disclaimer: I'm super green into this field right now (like, 2 days in - 2 calls to Klipsch customer support and several YouTube videos of knowledge now).
  2. Surround 3 manual: Page 4 This is a page from the Surround 3 manual. When I first saw it I just skipped over it. Later, I went back to try and understand what it was trying to explain. I hate to admit it but I'm still baffled! The diagram shows two additional speakers which, I assume, are the Surround 3 speakers. I must therefore assume the diagram is trying to explain what happens if the ((SUR)) button is pressed when the BAR 48 has the Surround 3 speakers connected and is capable of producing 5.1 surround sound. Each time I press the ((SUR)) button on my remote the ((SUR)) light on the BAR 48 toggles on then off. That much is obvious. When the ((SUR)) light is on I can hear sound from the surround speakers. When it's off, I don't. At least that is what I think is happening. The left side of the page appears to describe the effect the ((SUR)) button button has when listening to music. Furthermore, I assume this is a mono/stereo source and that neither the DTS or Dolby Digital lights on the soundbar are illuminated. I think it is suggesting that pressing the ((SUR)) button will produce sound from the surround speakers. 😉 What is VIRTUAL SURROUND? Besides being an oxymoron, what is 5.1 STEREO? What is a 3.1 UPMIX? The right side of the diagram suggests the source is a movie. Since it shows 5.1 DISCRETE, I assume either the DTS or Dolby Digital lights are illuminated and the source may contain 5.1 content. If the ((SUR)) light on my BAR 48 is illuminated, I can hear sound from the Surround 3 speakers. If it is not illuminated, I don't. The diagram suggests that pressing the ((SUR)) button will switch from 5.1 DISCRETE to VIRTUAL SURROUND. So, when I have sound from my Surround 3 speakers, am I listening to 5.1 DISCRETE or VIRTUAL SURROUND?
  3. If I had a pair of RR-41SA 's and a pair of RP-140SA's which should I use for ATMOS and which for SURROUNDS?
  4. I have a set of RF 3 speakers I need to get rid of. I will accept any reasonable offer. Here is a link to my Craigslist add. https://ventura.craigslist.org/ele/6793644361.html
  5. Last year, I purchased a 65" 4K HDR TV set, Samsung M8500 UHD BR player, Yamaha Aventage ATMOS receiver, and Quintet 5 speakers. I have a smallish 10x10 living room. Since the TV was hung just a foot under the ceiling, I added a speaker-mount bar, that attaches to the top set of the TV mount bolts (see generic photo below). I put the quintet center, and 2 quintet speakers, below the TV. I mounted the other 2 quintet speakers to the speaker-mount bar, either side of the TV, so they are about 2 feet below the ceiling. For the rear surrounds, I used a pair of bookshelf speakers I already had. Now, Fry's is selling the R-14S surrounds for $139. Should I place the R-14S in the rear, to replace my non-Klipsch bookshelf surrounds? Or should I put the 2 quintets in the rear surround position, and use the R-14S as the front height speakers? Will the R-14S overpower the quintets? I just want consistent sound, that won't make me go "there go the rears". The R25C center channel speaker is also on sale, for $124. Should I replace the quintet center with the R25C? Will it overpower/mismatch the other quintet speakers? If I replace the quintet center, is there anything I can do with it? The days of 6.1 surround sound are long behind us (I still have a Panasonic SA-HE200 receiver from the 6.1 days) I can't afford to replace all of the speakers just yet, so your advice would be much appreciated. Art the newbie

  7. I recently made some changes about my home theater setup. I am hoping to get some advise and suggestion if there is anything wrong with my setup. My home theater walk through link: My current setup: Living Room: R28F, R-25C, R-14M, RS-25, Sony -DH800, Epson 142X (1080p Projector to 120 in screen). Master Bedroom: RP-280F, RP-450C, RP-250S, Onkyo TX-NR656 (100w @ 8ohom), Samsung UN65MU8000 ( 65 in 4k) Guest/Kid Room: Pending (probably going with a RF series set) My current concern is: Should I keep 5.1 in master bedroom, or get a pair of RP-160M/RP-150M for 7.1, or get RP-140SA for ceiling bounce atmos, or get RP-5800 ceiling speaker for atmos? As for atmos ceiling speaker, Any ceiling speaker recommendation? Micca M-8C 8 ($40/each), Polk Audio RC80i ($130/pair), Klipsch PRO-180RPC (ebay $250/each ), Klipsch 5800-C II (eba $225/each) ? I have a 5.1 system now ( RP-450C, RP-280F, RP-250S)
  8. Hi there At the moment I have a stereo system with two R-26F. I want to upgarde to a 5.0 and later maybe 6.0 system. For the two surround speakers i don't know if I should pick the R-14s or R-15m. I am sitting on a couch with a short distance to back wall (approx. 1 feet). The speakers will be placed at the left and right hands side of the couch near the wall. Which of these two you think would be the better choice. If you need any more information please let me know. Sorry for any mistakes in the text, english is not my first language Best Regards Andri
  9. Looking for a pair of black RS7 surrounds and a Sunfire Cinema Grand Signature Architect's choice 17" ii (hear these are a good match for Klipsch) to anchor my new system upgrade from a receiver to seperates
  10. Hi all I just bought a Synergy 5.1 system. Looking for adjustable speaker stand for S1 surround speakers. Also looking for speaker cable suggestions for ~22 sqm room. I have a Denon AVR-X2400H av receiver. Thanks in advance
  11. Hello everyone, I bought a couple of Klipsch Heresy I 1972 (Tweeter: K77 Midhorn: K700 plus K55V driver, woofer: K22E alnico NOT RED SURROUND OF H700 Model) They have Type C crossovers but the woofers impedance is 8 ohm. Do I have to change the crossovers on type D or E configuration?
  12. Hi All - I am currently using 4 of the KG 1.5's for my side/rear surrounds. I have had them for many years and usually just had them placed on the floor since I didn't have room for stands. New house, new room more dedicated for the theater set-up. Unfortunately our builder was being a pain and I couldn't get the surround points wired prior to the walls going up, otherwise I most likely would have done in-wall/ceiling speakers for the surrounds. My question is with the KG 1.5's, are there any recommended mounting brackets or speakers stands? The bottoms have some threaded holes that I resume are for brackets or for the stands? Would appreciate any thoughts/guidance. Joel
  13. Have been combing the forums for a few weeks now, and appreciate the time everyone puts in to help. I am in process of finalizing my speaker list and could definitely use some help with rear surrounds and subs. Below is what I had in mind and it seems from the forums, it is ok, but I was looking for the preferred option. Room is 18' x 16'6" in a basement. MLP will be about 36"-40" from the back wall. RP-280F (L, R) RP-450C (C) RP-250S (Side surrounds) RP-160M (rear surrounds) R-112SW (x2) Request 1) Keeping LCR same, what is preferred for the rear surrounds? RP-160M, RP-250S or RP-250F? The reason I ask is all 3 choices are within ballpark of each other after I consider cost of stands for the RP-160M Request 2) Is it better to have 2 R-112SW vs. 1 R-115SW? (having 2 R-115SW will basically blow my budget) Layout attached. The 8 boxes on side and back wall are columns. Thanks in advance for your advice!!
  14. Anyone have experience using Heritage speakers in a home theater? I am moving into a newly built home and planning to re-deploy my audio equipment. Planning to use three Heresy speakers for FCR, and a pair of KSF 8.5 I have as the rear surround. I'd appreciate any thoughts or comments about how others have used Heritage speakers in a HT set-up, especially for rear surround.
  15. Hello everybody I do have a litte problem! I got everything out of the the RP 280 (www.klipsch.com/products/reference-premiere-home-theater-systems#rp-280) for a 5.1 setup. Everrything works fine has amazing sound and look stunning BUT in my room I cannot place the surround speakers left and right of my listening position. I have 2 Options. (The room is 19 feet by 16 feet so no funny shapes involved but the windows are blocking some of my option) Option 1 I can place them further back (within the recommended 110 degees) and about 3 feet above my listening position but this puts them about 1.3 feet from the back wall. But if I do this do I turn the speakers so that the center of the speaker points to my listening position and what mount do I get for that? Option 2 I can place them left and right of my listening position but about 4,3 feet above my listening position which is about 1 feet from the ceiling (and about 2/3 of the speakers would hang over See Picture). I cannot place it on the back wall becasue the back wall is one big window. Both Options are not ideal but which would you recommend? I thank everybody in advance for their help. P.S. Excuse my gramma and spelling errors I am from Austria (Europe) so not a native english speaker
  16. Hello! I am building a dedicated theater, and I will be using an acoustic transparent screen, but I am having trouble finding good sounding speakers, with a good price in Toronto Canada. I am building a 7.2.4 system, and don't need any subwoofers as I already have a few. I have been looking 3 x Klipsch R28F for the front LCR, 4x Klipsch R1650C for the ceiling speakers, and I am still looking around for 4 surround speakers, as the RS400B at Best Buy are too small for me. Anyway, from what I am reading here, people are saying the Klipsch speakers at Best Buy are rebadged and are not as good. If so, what model fronts should I be looking at, and where should I be purchasing it from?

  19. I've been full of ideas (and possibly something else) all day today, so at the risk of making a fool out of myself I'm throwing this one out to the forum & lurkers from Klipsch Product Development: What if Klipsch were to make Heritage-series surrounds for home theater? Maybe it sounds silly at first glance, but think about it. How many forum members are using Heritage speakers in their HT setups? How many goofy, un-elegant ways have we tried to elevate a Heresy to ear level without creating a danger for small children and pets? Envision a smaller version of the HIP with heavy-duty woofer, horns for mid-range and tweeter, and porting. How cool would that be? If you can build a mini-LaScala for the desktop (Klipsch blog), why not something like this? I run a market research firm for a living, and would be happy to suggest ways to test which would be low-risk. If anyone's interested, that is...
  20. Hi, Please read title as "Klipsh 150M (Bookshelf speaker) as Rear surround" Someone suggested me 150M bookshelf speakers for my rear surround. I was going for 240S but I was told these are cheaper and value for money if I am using for rear surround. I feel it is too directional and do not feel natural. I have kept it on a stand at my ear level a feet far from me. I have a small room. Should I keep this or return and get 240S ? Regards
  21. Hi, my dream has always been to have a pair of classic Klipsch speakers. When I first started to dream, it was a 2.0 world. Now it is a 5+.1 world. I'm putting together a new system for a new house, so I have my chance. I can afford a pair of Cornwalls, but that doesn't leave much for surround speakers. I'd be very happy with mediocre surround sound and great sounding music. It should be possible to reprocess a 5.1 signal to an 2.1 signal that approximates the sound of the 5.1 signal. My understanding is that the "down mix" option on DVD players just adds the sounds to the left or right channel and does not do any processing to make surround sounds sound like they were intended. Any ideas on how to do 2.0 dream in a 5.1 world. Thanks!
  22. Hi guys, up for sale I have a pair of the Infinity QPS-1 quadrapole speakers. These might be good speakers for use with Atmos as they are wall mountable and pretty light. There are a few small blemishes but overall they are very nice looking, and sounding. Here is some info on them. QPS-1 Frequency Range: 80 ~ 20,000Hz (–6dB@80Hz) Sensitivity: 88dB spl (2.83 volts/1 meter spatially averaged) Impedance: 8 Ω (5.5 min.) Maximum Peak Output: 108dB (spl on program) Amplifier Requirements: Suitable for use with amplifiers 10 ~ 80W (@ 8 Ω) PM me if interested. Thank you Tim

  25. Everything is SOLD except for the emo xpa-5. He is asking 650 and amp is located in Kansas City but can be taken to Des Moines Iowa this weekend if that makes it easier for someone. hey guys, currently i am rocking rs-52's in my living room. i have a buddy local that has some rs-62's for sale. i was gonna snag em after another buddy told me he would buy mine. fast forward two months and my buddy has not commited to buying my 52's and the guy with the 62's now needs money. i feel obligated to either hurry and sell mine or pass on what i feel is a good deal on the 62's. my 52's have a tiny bit of damage on the top of one at the very back from when i mounted it and it nicked against the ancient thermostat in my living room. the other is mint. i would be looking to get 350 out of them. the 62's my buddy has says they are mint, i have not see them but believe him as he has probably the nicest theater i have ever been in. he is looking for 500 out of them. neither mine or his have original boxes so shipping would be tough but probably still doable. he also has a mint condition 1st gen xpa-5 for sale as well. says it has about 5 movies watched on it. so lets say 10-12 hours. mint condition as well and i think he has the box for it. transferrable warranty on it obviously from emotive. he is wanting 650 for it. i can get any pics for anyone if there are some interests shown. otherwise i dont care too much to post pics of something that everyone here knows exactly what it looks like. like i said just trying to help a buddy out since i kind of spoke for his speakers when he could have been trying on his own to sell them for a couple months. cant afford to buy them without selling mine first. oh both surrounds are first gen, not the second ones. location is kansas city.
