  1. Hello everyone, A few years ago while working for an estate sale company, I picked up a pair of rare 1960s Klipschorns from the original buyer and am looking to sell them. The serial#s are 1671-1672 on the cabinets and 1832 & 1681 on the horns. According to Klipsch personnel, these serial #s were made between 1948-1961 back when their serial numbers consisted only of 4 digits and were manufactured under the moniker, Klipsch & Associates. These are in excellent condition and sound absolutely amazing. Serious inquires / buyers please contact me via email at gaiason@gmail.com Thank you, Steve
  2. Hi everyone, I am looking for additional information and potential buyer regarding a pair of vintage 1950s klipschorn speakers in excellent working condition. The serial#s are 1671-1672 on the cabinets and 1832 & 1681 on the horns. I'm looking for information regarding their collectibility, value and a potential buyer. I'm located in Houston so anyone local interested please msg me otherwise I can ship at buyer's expense.
  3. Hey all, New guy here. I just inherited a set of Chorus IIs that are unfortunately in a bit of a state of disrepair. One of the negative terminals on the system is busted off. Can anyone detail the process I'm going to need to take to repair it? Am I going to have to solder? I already contacted Klipsch support and they put me in contact with a repair shop that does not have the terminals in stock, so is there a generally accepted after market set to use? Thanks in advance!
  4. Jim, Can you tell me what I have here? I acquired a really nice pair of old Klipsch speakers in huge ornate wooden cabinets. They look like they were used in an auditorium or something. They work great. Can you help me find out more about them like year mfg., age, model, purpose, value, rarity, collectability ? Here's a pdf link with a bunch of more pictures. http://montereymusicclub.com/klipsch/klipsch.pdf I'm being told they're home made cabinets and Klipsch never put out anything like this. They were definitely made by a cabinet shop, not home made. They're a matched set, the cabinet work is A1 and there's no evidence there was ever anything else inside them to think they used to be something else. Each of the back of the horns have a Klipsch tag; PK K-55-V / serial #10035 and #10041. There is a Klipsch id strip on the bottom edge of the electric board that says Type A. What would that mean? Who likely made these and is there any way to trace the history via the above serial numbers ? Thank you, Gary Smith
  5. Hi, I just aquired a really nice pair of old Klipsch speakers in huge cabinets for my band room. They look like they were used in an auditorium or something. They work great. Can anybody help me find out more about them like age, purpose, value, rarity, collectability ? Pics attached. Thanks.
  6. Might be moving forward with a HT system that uses Heresys or Fortes for the L/R channels. The purists might want all vintage Klipsch speakers to be driven only with tubes from now to eternity, but that is a non-starter for me. I've read that SS equipment can be "OK" if it "matches well" with horn-driven sound of vintage Klipsches. Short of auditioning a half-dozen receivers (ain't gonna happen), what can I do? Are there particular brands of receivers that have characteristics that match better than others? Are there specific features I should look for in a receiver when driving vintage Klipsches? Or is this issue too subtle for all but hardcore audiophiles? Consider me to be a wannabe audiophile with a degree of age-related hearing impairment. Again, I'm talking home theater, not a dedicated stereo system. Thanks. This is a great forum.
  7. I own a set of klf 20's for 15 years and I never had any trouble.. I'm Looking to buy a set Klipsch KLF 30 s and a Center.. What are the draw backs of the KLFs series? i have read many issues with them, like the glue failing on cabinets and all the speaker plastic trim cracking with heavy use.. Honestly, Im Kinda considering in buying new speakers to avoid any issues. BTW I'm located in ATLANTA if any wants sell some klf 30s or 20s at reasonable price
  8. I am repairing a built in home stereo system that uses Frazier speakers in every room. Each speaker is a 12 x 12 x 16 cabinet with an 8" woofer and a 5 x 7 tweeter. The tweeters are the black bell type with alnico magnetics. The tweeters are blown in at least 2 of 12 tweeters, and there are at least a couple more. Knowing that there is a lot of common driver parts between Klipsch and Frazier, I am posting my questions here and in the Frazier sites. Checking the internet I cannot find any diaphragm replacement kits. Are there any available? Next option is I have found some 5 X 7 Frazier replacement tweeter assemblies at a decent price, but the magnetic arrangement is different. Instead of the tall small diameter alnico style magnet under a plastic cup, it has a short large diameter magnetic and no cup. The tweeters are marked on the back with: Frazier F-3x7 N4850-F 114850-F U.S.PAT. 3,898,393 Are these equivalent specs? And what are the differences? Thanks in advance
  9. For Sale: LaScala Speakers: Good Condition , Original Owner Asking $1500 OBO serial numbers consecutive Pick-up only in Ellicott City, Maryland
  10. First post here...noob to the site. Bear with me....I'm old too! Testing the waters, updating my Vintage K-horns and looking to finance it...at least partially anyway, through the sale of some vintage parts. I don't really know the value and need some guidance....some price range perhaps. I bought my Khorns in the early 80's. I sent a letter (dating myself here) to Klipsch inquiring about updates to my new acquisitions and they responded with the history of my speakers (built in 1977, BBU) and told me about the upgrades available at that time. That was 1984, I have the original 1977 vintage K33 woofers in pristine condition, in Klipsch boxes, and the 1984 "upgrade" crossovers the AK-7's. they are also in excellent condition save for some dust and what seems to be the standard cankered and corroded driver leads, greenish in color within the insulation. I would appreciate any insight my fellow Klipsch fans can provide!
  11. Selling my consecutive serial numbered Klipsch Chorus II speakers in original condition. Few minor nicks and dings but overall in original excellent condition considering their age. Buyer is welcome to demo before purchase. Other components in pictures are not for sale. I can ship these but buyer will be responsible for cost. Please inquire if you would like these shipped. 3% PayPal fee for transactions. I would like to sell these locally in the SF Bay Area and would be willing to deliver within a reasonable distance or meet halfway. Please ask with any questions. Asking $1200.00 for the pair.
  12. I'm just asking for someone's opinion on the value of two brand new 1970s La Scalas still in their original shipping boxes. I'm undecided whether to sell them and need some guidance. I picked them up at the factory in Hope Arkansas about 40 years ago and they've been kept in storage since then. I believe the cabinets are unfinished birch.
  13. Hey guys, I'm new here! Long time lurker and I could really use some help from the guru's I've been using my old Kenwood km-209 power amp paired with the kc-209 amp controller to drive my vintage KG4's. The kenwood is rated at 150w although the specifications say 155+155 for both channels and says 'Music Power' Is 310w. Here's the specs: http://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/kenwood/km-209.shtml I ran the volume at about 50% for about 30-35 minutes until I came downstairs to lower the volume for about 30-60 seconds and then powered the system off. When I turned the system off, I heard a pop go through the speakers. It wasn't blaringly loud, but it was loud, and concerned me. I noticed the amp was pretty warm at that time, too. After letting it cool off for about ten minutes I turned the system back on and heard a strange garbled sound coming from the speakers. When I played music through them, the tweeters weren't putting out any sound. I plugged in my EPI's to test, and their tweeters worked, so, I'm pretty sure something happened to my KG4's. Now, I'm a little concerned.. Can't these KG4's handle some juice? I was very skeptical that I might have damaged them with this system. I am also an idiot when it comes to audio equipment so please forgive me, I'm learning. Does anyone find it peculiar that both tweeters would blow exactly at the same time, AFTER I turn the system back on at a low volume? So weird to me. Thank you for your help! Sean
  14. Greetings from the Arkansas lowlands - home of tall grasses, heavy soil and indestructible bugs! I am searching for vintage bookshelf speakers for a small listening room. Something in the 12"h x 8"w x 8"d (or slightly larger) would be ideal. Being definitely old school, birch plywood cabinets with real wood veneers are preferable to MDF. The closest I have found so far are the KG-1 and KG-1.5 models. Can you suggest any other Klipsch speakers to consider? We have Heresy originals in another room and really like them. Best wishes. -Robert
  15. A pair in really good condition. No shipping of course. Located in Delaware and willing to drive within reason. Asking $500 or decent offers.
  16. For sale are a pair of Klipsch Quartet floor standing speakers. They are completely original and perform flawlessly. Aesthetically they are a solid 9, with only a few minor scratches on the risers and one scratch on the top of one of the boxes. I've had these speakers for about 3 years, 2 of them were spent in a closet. Just figured someone else might get more enjoyment out of them. More images upon request. Local (San Antonio) cash sale only. Sorry, No Shipping. Price is $350, firm & fair.
  17. I have a pair of Klipsch Heresy speakers for sale. They are factory sequential numbered. Serial numbers are 37R348 & 37R349. They are in excellent condition, with one small area on the lower left back corner of the 348 speaker (see photo). Walnut finish. Made in 1977, I have owned them since 79, bought from a friend who upgraded & they have been with me since! Also have wooden floor stands for them that are included. Hopefully, all my pictures come through. Prefer local pickup, but I am willing to ship if you're willing to pay! Any questions, let me know. $600 I'm in the Sarasota, FL area.

  19. Hi All, We've inherited a (single) 1955 Klipsch K-357 floor standing corner speaker, plus a (single) 1967 H-700 Heresy. Does anyone know how much we should ask for them? Many thanks, Greg
  20. Hi All, My brother and sister and I inherited a (single) 1955 Klipsch K-357 floor standing corner speaker, plus a (single) 1967 H-700 Heresy. Does anyone know how much we should ask for them? Many thanks, Greg
  21. I have 2 black klipsch academy's for sale. I'd prefer a local cash sale. Aesthetically, the boxes arnt in the best of shape, a little scuffed up in the usual places. However, the sound is amazing. Lmk, if you have any questions, I'm located in San Antonio TX. 350 each, 650 for both.
  22. These speakers came with my house and were clearly treasured by the original owner. Sadly, they are wasted on me and are now seeking a good home. I have read thru the forums so have some (very) limited knowledge about what they are. The Klipschorn pair have consecutive serial nos. 8P125 & 126 and are the model KB-BR which I think means Birch. They might have been the unfinished models and the owner added the finish (note that in the attached pics it looks like they don't match but they do). They are in very good condition. However, we were not as good caretakers as the owner and they do have some small fraying of the speaker material on the very back edge. The 1957 Shorthorn is model SPI-15 and serial 803. This is also in very good condition. There are some very small pulls in the material on the front and a minor scratch on the top. Additionally there is a 4th speaker that I know pretty much nothing about. All the speakers were checked recently by an audio tech and found to be in good working order. I have attached some pictures. They are available for inspection & pickup from Wilmington, NC. I will consider all reasonable offers. Please let me know if you have questions or need add'l pix. Thank you for looking :-)
  23. Hey guys. I'm totally new to the whole stereo system thing. I haven't even heard of Klipsch till I picked up a pair of KG4s at a yard sale this past weekend. I've been doing research on watts and ohms, receivers, and set up but everything is kinda over my head. I need help but broken down real simple like. I'm not trying to get some perfect setup I just want to be able to play some music nice and loud without breaking something. So like I said I got a pair of the KG4's and I bought this old receiver RCA RK327C http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-RCA-RK327C-HI-FI-RECEIVER-/221540828945?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item3394dcc711#viTabs_0 (pics attached) it has 120 volt, 60hz, 300watt, 2 channels. I hooked'm up yesterday and found out the right channel of the receiver is messed up it is low and kinda cycles up and down. Left is fine, that speaker was thumping pretty good. I get a little buzzy sound with some music not sure if thats the speaker or receiver. So since only one side is working I hooked both speakers to that side. That worked. So questions 1. Are the speaker and receiver compatiable, as in will something break if I keep using it? 2. I do plan on getting the other channel fixed on the receiver but for time being is having everything go to side messing something up? 3. Is that buzzing coming from the speaker or receiver? Thanks yall, remember please explain plainly. Also if this a bad pairing could you tell me the right kind of receiver to get. I like the vintage look and I'm not trying to spend much, again I just want to play loud without breaking something.
