Might not be a good idea to lay a rear ported speaker on it's back. Maybe some sort of an easel would work?
Or mount them up high with some of these....they work very well
I saw these - didn't think they were quite steep enough to angle off my ceiling from 8 feet away.
If the stands were reversed, and the speakers laid on their backs atop them, that would be the angle I'm trying to achieve.

Congrats! I've had my cherry 7II's for about 5 years now and have never thought of them as too harsh or too bright. Have run them in a 5.2 , 9.2 and now in a 7.2 configuration calibrated with Audyssey room correction.....good stuff!
