  1. Theater room basement including ceiling and all side drywall must be replaced due to fire. System was: klf 20 fronts and rears c7 center rs-7 sides rp-500sa fronts and rears (upfired due to room configuration that prevented rear mounting) Denon AVR-X6700H Yamaha M-80 (powers front 20's Question 1. I would like to replace the 500sa's with ceiling speakers- is the pro 180 rpw the best choice? Question 2. If I replaced the rs-7's with a in-wall speaker, is the pro-250 rpw the "best" match? I know with the legends, the timbre matches are already not ideal, but trying to get the best match and hopefully will be last upgrades to system (lol)! Room is approximately 28 x 18 with some ceiling differences due to boxed in ducting and will be carpeted. P.S. I also have RS-62ii's I could use for surrounds, but if I'm not going with in-wall, sides, the RS-7's are a better "cosmetic" fit. Thanks all.
  2. Hi All, New to the forums here and wondering if I could get some advice. Just started putting together my home theater and purchasing speakers as I go. What does this group think I should upgrade or add first, not looking for top of the line, but decent mid-range set up for the basement. Floor plan is pretty open (about 20' x 28') with the theater contained one side. Ultimate goal is a 7.2.4 set up, however the receiver market is pretty rough, so I know ill be looking to replace that eventually. Below are the details of my current set up. AVR: Pioneer VSX-834 L&R: Klipsch R-820Fs Center: Klipsch RP-500C Side Surrounds: RP-600Ms Front Height: RP-500SAs Sub: R-100SW
  3. Hi everyone! I’m interested in forum members thoughts on the situation I find myself in diving into my home theater build. I’m a long time klipsch lover and hifi audio system geek in general. After tossing around the idea of doing an all paradigm or all canton HT system I have finally decided that I just will not be too happy without that classic klipsch sound. My delema is should I go with an all legend series klf 30/20 for mains, side & rear surrounds, with klf c7’s as center and atmos front and rear height speakers which is what I had resolved to do. I currently have a pair of 30’s and I am planning on procuring another pair of 30’s this weekend. So I’ll have 4 of the six towers needed to get started. Then it’s just track down another pair and 5x c7’s (which are far more shipable than the towers). On the other hand I also have the opportunity to pick up a pristine pair of heresy 2’s and 3 pair of heresy 1’s that are in beater shape that need a ton of work. No matter the choice I will be doing crites upgrades on all of the speakers legends or heresies. Haven’t had any experience with crites upgrades, are heresy or legend upgrades more costly? Will there be a timbre matching difference between the heresy 1’s and 2’s after crites conversion? Also what would be the best recommendation on atmos speakers for the heresies? Theater room is about 28x30. Would drive the system with pioneer elite vsx-lx503 and b&k separate amps (on 5 channels). Plan on upgrading to either an arcam, marantz, or anthem processor in the future and finding the best amps for whichever series I go with. The heresies are gonna need a lot of restoration work but are available now. Legends I’m gonna have to go through the headache of tracking down and picking up/get shipped to me. What are you guys thoughts on which route to take, and why? Has anyone heard both an all legend and an all heresy home theatre? I helped a friend years ago set up an all legend series theatre which was amazing and that was back in the days of 5.1/6.1. (He got a pair of klf 30’s after babysitting mine for me for a month or so, then completed the full surround system) Btw having two pair of klf 30’s as extra stereo sets if I go with the heresy option is no problem and I have the gear to run two separate audiophile stereo configurations on the 30’s. Choices, choices, choices... Any thoughts, experiences, advice you guys have would be much appreciated.
  4. Hello all, My first post in the community. I recently purchased an Anthem MRX1120 receiver. The receiver powers 11 channels and 2 sub-woofers. This new receiver is upgrading my setup from a 5.2.2 to a 7.2.4 The receiver can supply 140Watts to fronts, center, surround and subs with an A/B type amplifier while the back channel and elevation is 60Watts supplied by a D type amplifier. I am currently researching what speaker to buy that would match my receiver the best. I am more precisely looking to purchase back channel speakers and Atmos elevated speakers; and it is a lot more complicated than I first thought. My current setup: RP-260F fronts RP-250C Center (but will be upgrading to RP-450C soon) RP-160M Surrounds R-110SW subs x 2 I contacted Anthem to ask if I could use RP-160M as my back speakers and they said it wouldn't be a problem as long as I do not change cross-over setting that ARC had set them. As far as Atmos is considered I was thinking of getting 2 pairs of RP-140SA that I would mount high on the wall. ( I don't believe in putting them on top of floor speakers and bouncing them off the ceiling theory myself.) What I have problem to reconcile is this: the RP-160M are 100Watts with 400Watts peak the RP-140SA are 50 watts at 200Watts peak I'm worried that I am going to ask too much of the little 60 watts amp on the receiver by putting the RP-160M as back. I have considered putting another pair of RP140SA as back mounted mid- wall. the thing is I really like having great sound. I love the current speaker I have but I never heard the RP-140SA yet - if my instinct is correct I have a feeling that they won't cut it for me just like my RP-250C is not cutting for me right now. I have never owned a 7.x.x home theater before so I don't know how much signal is sent to back channel yet. My guess is probably the same as elevation channel and reason why Anthem went with a smaller D type amp for the back and height channel. I also listen to music and having the ability to run all channels might tempt me at some point. I also have a girlfriend that loves to crank the system from time to time. I worry that she won't hear the clipping that might happen with the back and height. I could in just remove them from the equation while playing music by crating another listening configuration file just for music(I can create 4 different profiles total) So what do you guys and gals think? I want to stick with the RP series I just don't know what will work best? any suggestions? Cheers
  5. I'd like to thank all of you that helped me decide on a receiver in a previous thread, I think I'll be powering all this with a Denon AVRX6300H. Currently, I have a 5.2.2 setup that I'm looking to upgrade to a 7.2.4 system. (right now it's L/R Klipsch RF 7II, center RC-64II, surround RS-62II, atmos RP-140SA and 2x SVS SB2000 subs.) I LOVE the reference line, but I feel like using RF 7IIs as rears would be overkill and I considered using two more RS 62II but being bipoles I wasn't sure they'd make for great rears. Could I use my old RP-260F as rears or would it sound mismatched because they're RP and not RF? I feel moderately satisfied with the RP-140SA, I feel like adding two more could make a big difference but if I wasn't impressed by two RP-140SA... Maybe I should put in the effort of CDT-5800-C II or CDT-5650-C II? The square footage is roughly 17x20. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
  6. I am in the process of renovating my basement into a Theatre Room, I have all the wiring ran for a 7.2.4 set up. My local dealer is really pushing the THX Ultra 2 line, but I have no room for the centre channel (KL-650-THX). The kitted system comes with the following: Three KL-650-THX LCRs Dual KL-525-THX LCRs Dual KS-525-THX surrounds Dual KW-120-THX subwoofers KA-1000-THX subwoofer amplifier I really like the looks of these speakers, but first want some opinions on how I can make this all work. First off I have roughed in for 6.5'' in-ceiling (elevation) speakers for Atmos. I would like to know what the best timber match would be if I were to go with the THX Ultra 2 line-up, as I do not have room for the PRO-7502's. Also the Centre Channel poses a problem as my screen is approx 8'' out from the wall, so the KL-650-THX will not work as the in-ceiling recessed projector screen will hit it when down. (and its already fixed in this position, so moving it forward would be a nightmare. The projector screen will come down in from of a brick fireplace, so my thoughts were I could possibly go with the PRO-6504-THX and recess it into the bricks. So a few dilemmas here, any advise, input or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I have attached a few pictures.
