  1. UPDATE: October 11, 2018 McIntosh Laboratory, Binghamton, NY Skip to page ___ for photos of the McIntosh tour Great American Audio Factory Tours Many, many of you have taken tours of the premier American Audio factories across the USA, including the tour of the Klipsch factory in Hope Arkansas. I started this thread for people to share their American audio factory tour experiences with us, both narrative and especially with photographs. Richard Groves @guywithwine (Klipsch Museum of Audio History Founders Circle member and Fundraising Standing Committee Chairman) recently took a tour of the Cary Audio factory in Raliegh, North Carolina, so I thought we would start with Cary Audio because it is recent, and Cary Audio has been a great partner with Klipsch at shows such as CES when they both want to show off their great sounding stuff. Bruce @Marvel is going to try and set up a tour of the Western Electric tube making factory in his area and, if they let him, share his experiences and photographs here as well. Back to Cary Audio. When Richard was taken into their the listening room at Cary Audio he was pleasantly surprised to see that he would be listening to the highly regarded Cary amps and preamps through a set of of handmade in the USA speakers a few of you might be familiar with. American high-end audio and the factories they are made in. More to come . . . .
  2. Anyone familiar with the Emotiva UPA-700? Found a deal in my area ($400) for the 7ch by 80Watts(8ohms) amp. Worth it? I already have my denon x6400. Wondering if it’s worth it to pick this up and power my front sound stage with the UPA-700?
  3. Anyone heard the Parasound PA260? Looking to hookup Hersey II’s to it.

    Amps

Looking for a 2 or 3 channel amp (200-300W RMS) that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Anyone know somebody that is selling used amps? Used speakers?
  5. I’m in need of a 2-3 channel amp (200-300w RMS). RC-64II center channel. And RS-52II or RP-250 surrounds. Also, I’m looking for 15” subwoofers. 115’s if at all possible.
  6. Hey all! Just Sprung for a matched pair of 78' Khorns in Rosewood!! Here's my dilemma; pretty much blew my wad on the spkrs so only have $500-$700 left for an amp to drive them till I save more $$! What should I get? (* And where do I find it please!). Thanks!!
  7. Hello all, so after 3 (not to mention) av receivers in the last 5 years, and after countless hours of research, I have decided to go with a Cambridge Audio CXR-200 av receiver. At this moment I cannot provide a critical or accurate review but from what I researched I feel this avr will be a good decision. It came down to the numbers, 120wpc @8ohms with all channels driven, and even more enticing 170wpc @8ohms with 2 channels driven. Pre-outs are limited to 2 left and right channels which are important and detrimental to what I want to achieve in my home theater. From there this receiver seems to have everything that most to almost all av receivers have EXCEPT, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and the most 'wounding', HDR processing. What I found most intriguing about this receiver is what the essence of home theater is about; the sound and how this receiver processes that sound. Next week when I free this beautiful beast from its cardboard surroundings, I will provide a more detailed and updated review. Does anyone out there have experience or know of anyone owning the Cambridge Audio CXR-200? As always, thank you for you thoughts and comments.
  8. I'm currently running an all Klipsch 7.2 setup for my home theater and have been looking at upgrading my current AVR to take advantage of the new sound mixes now available (ie. Atmos, DTS:X, Auro 3D). I have been doing lots of research all over and I'm having a very hard time making a decision. I am needing some recommendations from all of you but I'd like to avoid "fanboy" recommendations. I know this may sound silly or somewhat counter-productive when asking for recommendations, but I want the advice to be based on both the kind of hardware I am currently running and also on objective information. Just because someone has always purchased a specific brand for 20+ years should not be the only reason/justification as to why they recommend it. I know MANY of you have a wealth of knowledge; far more than me, on what the pros and cons are of various brands/models and can also explain objectively what I can expect with a certain option. I also am not looking to go crazy expensive with flagship models and because of this, going with brands like Anthem or Emotiva are probably out of the equation. As of recent, I have been entertaining Pioneer, Marantz, and possibly Onkyo again (not Integra just because it's Onkyo with nothing other than a different name and higher price). My concern with Onkyo has been there prolonged history of bad boards having faulty HDMI outs (seems like this is going on like 5 yrs, yes?). I will add though that my only experience has been Onkyo - I've been pleased with the sound but wouldn't know what I am potentially missing out on since I have not heard another brand. And in doing my research I have found many mixed review regarding some of their recent models (ie. 646, 656, 747, 757), and many people stating that the build quality has gone down hill. Is this really so? So, here is my current setup to give you all an idea: Klipsch RF-7ii (L/R) Klipsch RC-64ii (C) Klipsch RS-62ii x4 (SS/RS) Klipsch RW-12D x2 (subs) Onkyo TX-NR709 AVR Oppo BDP-103D I was hoping to keep my budget under or around $800 if possible and I would prefer NOT to go with separates due to the fact that I have a very clean setup with a very open/minimalistic look, and I don't have any more space in the console I am using that was just recently purchased. Thanks everyone, really appreciate your help! ~Cheers
  9. http://stores.ebay.com/jadedesign?rmvSB=true Some really nice electronics. Pretty fair prices too. I always find myself tempted by those Sherbourn PA 7 350's and PA 7-150's.
  10. Hi. Current system is a Marantz 7701 pre amp, a Marantz MM7055 5 channel amp. Current speakers are all Klipsch, RF-7 II mains, RC-64 II center, RS-52 II surrounds. Sub is a HSU VTF-15H MK2. Considering adding a 2 channel amp to go from a 5.1 to a 7.1 set up. Cost about 1000-1400. Room is 24x24. Will additional sound justifie cost? Another option considering is stay with the 5.1 system and upgrade surround speakers to the RS-62II's. Or just run with what I have. Opinions?
  11. http://www.avsforum....components.html Emotiva just announce through AVS forum a new product line that may be of interest to some of you. Link above Tim
