Disclaimer: I'm a complete beginner A friend of mine (an awesome friend) gave me his two KG2.5 speakers. I immediately set them up on my media room as a 2.0 system, with the intention of buying a center channel and rear speakers in the future. My thinking was to get another KG2.5 for the center speaker and maybe two KG1.2 or KG1.5 for the rear. However, I found a very reasonably priced used Kv2 and bought it as my center channel speaker. The end result.... well, I think the movies and shows sound worse than before, especially because KG 2.5 speakers are way more robust than the Kv2. A few questions... Do you agree that a KG2.5 would be better than a Kv2 for the center channel? (of course I understand that it's best to match and have all speakers from the same model) Would it be crazy to buy another Kv2 and have 2 Kv2 speakers in the rear, and then buy a KG 2.5 for the center? Is there anything specific to the Kv2 that makes it a center channel speaker? Do I really need a subwoofer if I have 3 KG2.5 speakers in the front? Thanks in advance for your answers- 8 replies

I have a KV2 walnut center speaker that I can no longer use. Had it with in-wall/ceiling Klipsch speakers in our last home in a surround sound set up that was done in 1999. I read where Klipsch stopped making the KV2 in 1997, but I bought it from Electronic Environments in Memphis in 1999. It has been in one spot continuously all of that time and literally looks brand new but for some minor damage to the finish at the bottom edge of one end. I am trying to recall how that could have happened as I do not think I ever had anything sitting next to it. If I did, it was so long ago, I do not remember it. I am amazed at the weight of this speaker. On top of that, it is beautiful with this walnut finish. Not sure what the wood is but it has a very attractive grain. Wish I could still use it. I do not recall what I paid for it and to be very open about it, I have no idea what these go for or what kind of market there is for them. How about $100 + shipping cost? As this is my first post in this forum, I do not know how transactions work here but we can figure it out if anyone is interested in this. Btw, I also have some other audio equipment that I can no longer use. Don't know if this forum is strictly limited to Klipsch products but I have some Adcom pieces (2 amps and a surround sound tuner/preamp) purchased from the old Custom Audio in Little Rock back in mid to late '90's. I thought Adcom went out of business, but apparently it is still in operation.

I am not an audiophile but I do appreciate good sound and was blessed to inheret some nice audio equipment from which I hope to build a quality home theatre system primarily for movies & video. Here's a list of my equipment: 2X Klipsch KG5.5 Floorstanding Speakers Klipsch KV2 Center Channel Speaker Klipsch SW10-II Subwoofer Harmon Kardon AVR65 Receiver The way my room is set up makes the large KG5.5 speakers placement more practical in the back of the room behind the speaker as rear channel speakers. I guess my first question is whether this is an aceptable arrangement for these particular speakers. If yes, can you guys recommend a complementary Klipsch product for the front and rear speakers with the caveat that I need something small enough to hang from a side wall or the ceiling. And while I'm at it, can you recommend a good speaker bracket/clip/hanger for ceiling or side wall mount? Finally, if locating these big KGs in the back of the room is an audio faux pas, I'll try to find a home for them in the front of the room but still need a recomendation for the rear speakers. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help. If yes, where would I purchase such an animal?
