    The Other Discs

I love LPs. Recently they have become cost prohibitive for this fella currently without a radio station, heck without a main rig tuner too. Rebuilding an anti-top-forty collection that started in the mid 70s, I've had to go with cds several times, and it's nice to be able to take them in the car too. Not here to discuss the merits of one form of music reproduction over another. I enjoy a lot of music and do have a threshold I can't tolerate but how my newly (two years ago) rebuilt stereo can sound with the digital stuff is impressive! The car just has a boom-box in it, but it's tolerable most of the time with the bass turned all the way down, I've considered un-wiring that darned subwoofer. I firmly believe Vinyl Rules....... never had a reel to reel myself. Some vinyl is better than others. Some cds are better too. Not just the fancy mfsl one I got today but some plain ones are engineered better than others with the depth and lifelike imaging of the sound that's reproduced. Brought to my attention a couple of weeks ago here was how much I missed a cassette of mine that was just an edit of this magnificent recording. Discogs to the rescue and for near mint to mint media for the Who's Quadrophenia LP it was close to and over two bills. Found a seller that was dealin' and landed this for a quarter of that.
  2. ***************SOLD 1/5/18*************** Very clean, rarely used Denon 2900 SACD/DVD player.Built like a tank at 18lbsPlays just about any kind of disc available in 2004(msrp$1000)Loading tray is tight and smooth like it's brand new. Great unit, only selling as I found my HK's receiver's matching unit.Included is the remote and power cable, if I can find the manual it will be included also.$150 seems to be a fair price shipped, especially in this condition, judging by past sales.https://www.cnet.com/products/denon-dvd-2900/review/
  3. Circumstances dictate I clear out a bunch of my audio gear. All is in excellent to mint condition with original boxes, manuals and remotes (where applicable). Email if interested. All gear is available for audition in the San Antonio, TX, area. Shipping is extra but will be actual cost via FEDEX ground. Polk LSiM 707. Polk's current flagship that still sells for $4k+. Cherry finish, mint with boxes. Absolutely gorgeous build quality on par with Thiel and Sonus Faber, in my opinion. Very well balanced speaker. Asking $2150 Cambridge Audio 840a V2 integrated amplifier. Built like a tank using Cambridge's XD amplifier technology. Great integrated amp. Asking $675 Quicksilver tube mini-mite mono-block amps. Mike Sanders classic hand built tube amps. $750 for the pair. Sony DVP-7000ES DVD/SACD player. Very heavy, well built and sounds great! Like a vault door closing when you feed it a CD. $275 obo Audio Nirvana 8" Single driver speakers. Built for smooth jazz and female vocals. Very detailed and tremendous in that regard. Not a head banging speaker though so would not recommend it in that area. $450. Email if interested.
