  1. Hi Please excuse me if this question seems to basic to you guys. I am still very naive in understandings some basic things. I have a Denon X4500H with RP-8000F and R-115SW. I am not very happy with the sound quality. I am planning to change the whole equipment. My inclination is towards Anthem STR series Pre and Power Amps and to replace RP-8000F with either Forte or Cornwall. Below are some specs for all the equipments. Planned Anthem Power Amp at 8 ohms 400 wpc Current Denon X4500H at 8 ohm 125wpc From Klipsch Web Site RP -8000F power handling Continous/Peak 150/600 watts, Senstivity 98db Forte III Continous/Peak 100/400 watts, Senstivity 99db Cornwall III Continous/Peak 100/400 watts I did not find anything on Klipsch specs that says suitable amplifer range (as other manufactures list in speaker specs). My doubt is can i pair the Anthem power amp that produces 400/wpc with any of the towers? Am I at risk of burning my speakers? How come 8000F can handle more power but is low on SPL? Or Can I still use Denon and replace to 8000f and Denon will be powerful enough to drive Forte or Cornwall? Thanks for the help.
  2. Hello all, My first post in the community. I recently purchased an Anthem MRX1120 receiver. The receiver powers 11 channels and 2 sub-woofers. This new receiver is upgrading my setup from a 5.2.2 to a 7.2.4 The receiver can supply 140Watts to fronts, center, surround and subs with an A/B type amplifier while the back channel and elevation is 60Watts supplied by a D type amplifier. I am currently researching what speaker to buy that would match my receiver the best. I am more precisely looking to purchase back channel speakers and Atmos elevated speakers; and it is a lot more complicated than I first thought. My current setup: RP-260F fronts RP-250C Center (but will be upgrading to RP-450C soon) RP-160M Surrounds R-110SW subs x 2 I contacted Anthem to ask if I could use RP-160M as my back speakers and they said it wouldn't be a problem as long as I do not change cross-over setting that ARC had set them. As far as Atmos is considered I was thinking of getting 2 pairs of RP-140SA that I would mount high on the wall. ( I don't believe in putting them on top of floor speakers and bouncing them off the ceiling theory myself.) What I have problem to reconcile is this: the RP-160M are 100Watts with 400Watts peak the RP-140SA are 50 watts at 200Watts peak I'm worried that I am going to ask too much of the little 60 watts amp on the receiver by putting the RP-160M as back. I have considered putting another pair of RP140SA as back mounted mid- wall. the thing is I really like having great sound. I love the current speaker I have but I never heard the RP-140SA yet - if my instinct is correct I have a feeling that they won't cut it for me just like my RP-250C is not cutting for me right now. I have never owned a 7.x.x home theater before so I don't know how much signal is sent to back channel yet. My guess is probably the same as elevation channel and reason why Anthem went with a smaller D type amp for the back and height channel. I also listen to music and having the ability to run all channels might tempt me at some point. I also have a girlfriend that loves to crank the system from time to time. I worry that she won't hear the clipping that might happen with the back and height. I could in just remove them from the equation while playing music by crating another listening configuration file just for music(I can create 4 different profiles total) So what do you guys and gals think? I want to stick with the RP series I just don't know what will work best? any suggestions? Cheers
  3. Opinions on the Anthem MRX 1120 as a stand alone receiver without any extra power amps attached to it? Thinking about getting one to complete my 7.2.4 atmos setup. Rf-7ii's and Rc-64ii in the front. Cheers
  4. UPDATE: I've moved to the Chicago area, Lombard, IL. Price drop to $1,800 plus shipping. Thanks! Time to sell some extra gear, and I'm starting with my Anthem Statement P2. No issues to report, only one small scratch on the side of the amp, as you can see in the photos. I have an original box, albeit not THE original box. I'd like to make this available locally first, but I would consider shipping at buyers expense. Local is 54701, which is about an hour and change east from Minneapolis. Asking $2000. http://www.anthemav.com/products-current/model=p2/page=specs
  5. Hi I have Built the home theater of my dreams , But now i need an AV receiver and iam kinda lost , i only watch Movies , and LOVE " in your face effect " especially from over head , my set up is 7.2.4 and consists off the following : Fronts : 2x Klipsch RP-280F Center : 1x Klipsch RP-450C Surrounds : 2x Klipsch RP-250S Surround Back : 2X Klipsch RP-280F Ceiling : 4X CDT 5800C II Subwoofer : 2x SVS SB-13 Ultra Power Amp: Integra DTA-70.1 9ch power amp As you could see its a Big system , but i normal watch a movie no where near the Reference level , not even close to half of that . i would like to ask from these two AV receiver " Yamaha RX-A3060 or Anthem AVR720 " which one would you go for ? also i love Up-mixing off non atmos or DTS:X conent so would like a receiver that dose that pretty well. Room size is 5m x 4m , and its acoustically treated ( with bass traps and sound absorption placed in there correct place Thank you
  6. I'm currently running an all Klipsch 7.2 setup for my home theater and have been looking at upgrading my current AVR to take advantage of the new sound mixes now available (ie. Atmos, DTS:X, Auro 3D). I have been doing lots of research all over and I'm having a very hard time making a decision. I am needing some recommendations from all of you but I'd like to avoid "fanboy" recommendations. I know this may sound silly or somewhat counter-productive when asking for recommendations, but I want the advice to be based on both the kind of hardware I am currently running and also on objective information. Just because someone has always purchased a specific brand for 20+ years should not be the only reason/justification as to why they recommend it. I know MANY of you have a wealth of knowledge; far more than me, on what the pros and cons are of various brands/models and can also explain objectively what I can expect with a certain option. I also am not looking to go crazy expensive with flagship models and because of this, going with brands like Anthem or Emotiva are probably out of the equation. As of recent, I have been entertaining Pioneer, Marantz, and possibly Onkyo again (not Integra just because it's Onkyo with nothing other than a different name and higher price). My concern with Onkyo has been there prolonged history of bad boards having faulty HDMI outs (seems like this is going on like 5 yrs, yes?). I will add though that my only experience has been Onkyo - I've been pleased with the sound but wouldn't know what I am potentially missing out on since I have not heard another brand. And in doing my research I have found many mixed review regarding some of their recent models (ie. 646, 656, 747, 757), and many people stating that the build quality has gone down hill. Is this really so? So, here is my current setup to give you all an idea: Klipsch RF-7ii (L/R) Klipsch RC-64ii (C) Klipsch RS-62ii x4 (SS/RS) Klipsch RW-12D x2 (subs) Onkyo TX-NR709 AVR Oppo BDP-103D I was hoping to keep my budget under or around $800 if possible and I would prefer NOT to go with separates due to the fact that I have a very clean setup with a very open/minimalistic look, and I don't have any more space in the console I am using that was just recently purchased. Thanks everyone, really appreciate your help! ~Cheers
  7. Finally getting my theatre room. Would love some feedback....This is the plan Front: RF7Bii Center: RC64Bii Sides: RP250SB Back: CDT5800Cii In-ceiling I have been debating between the Anthem AVM 60 and Rotel RSP 1582 I have a decent Anthem 3 channel Amp with 200 Watts per channel all driven that I would use for my front channels and I would either top that up with an Anthem PVA 4 amp for the rest (125 watt per channel) Or if I really push my budget the MCA 525 (225 per channel) If I go with Rotel, the 5 Channel RMB-1585. Any feedback on this system would be appreciated. Also, the RF7Bii front speakers will be semi-built in. Do I need to worry about getting air to these. Any idea on what clearance I need or will putting them in a confined area totally kill the sound? I have the ability to open the space behind the speakers into a small storage room that is directly behind the TV and front channels. Thanks in advance for any input. D
