  1. Hey guys, stumbled on a pair of H700 Heresy's at an antieque shop while on vacation. What's the going rate on these: 1966 model. They work well, but the cane grills and enclosures are a little beat up. The logos look good. Should I buy them?
  2. I set out looking for some stand mounts to restore over the holidays - just some cleaning, sanding and staining. A guy on FB Marketplace had some KG1.5s in pretty rough shape but he assured me they sounded great and he cut me a deal on the asking price. After hooking them up I noted one speaker sounding different, the highs were a bit off, and one of the motorboards was poorly fastened to the box. Turns out the rail which the board attaches was blown out around the screw holes. Further examination indicated the woofer had come unglued from the spider.
  3. Greetings!!! I recently acquired a pair of black klipsch speakers (Chorus), I stripped the paint off, I'm on the sanding and fixing some details. I already know which paint to use ( Vaspar #40 sheen semi-gloss), thanks to previous post here, my question here is, Should I use a standard spray gun (with an air air compressor), paint sprayer (Wagner type) or a high quality foam roller? I don't want to cover the wood grain when painting it, I am trying to give it that original black look showing wood grain. My only concern with a spray gun (air compressor) is the over spray... Any advice or experience will be appreciated! Have a great weekend! Edwin
  4. I just picked up a pretty beat up set of KP-301’s. I have completely disassembled them and am sanding/ filling the cabinets to get ready for paint. They have 2 different crossovers. Speaker A has a KP-3.0A crossover while Speaker B has a KP-3.0B crossover. Both speakers have the correct K-79k tweeters and K57-k squawkers. Speaker A has the original K-48k woofer while the other has a JBL E140-8, which I plan on replacing . Does anyone know the difference between these 2 crossovers and if they are compatible and which one is the correct one for this speaker. The serial #s are 90012825 and 8932325 respectively. Thank you in advance for any information. Cheers!
  5. So i just picked up a pair of consecutive serial number Heresy I's and am excited to say the least. They are not in mint condition and I would like to do what I can to get them looking and sounding as best as possible. Neither one has the paper labels on the back anymore. From what I have read, the process for restoring the wood can be different based on what the cabinets are made from. I am hoping someone can help me identify them. I know I'm never getting the labels back, but in situations with missing labels, is there a common practice? Do people create some kind of new label just so that the information is back with the cabinets or no? I am excited to open them up so we can see what and if anything has been done to them but I have yet to do so because I wanted to post here beforehand, is there anything I need to know before I open them up? 6. This is a continuation from the “Heresy troubleshooting” I started in the 2 channel section. Figured I move my Heresy posts here, as my project is turning more into a restoration than a trouble shoot. the original started here: Tested some new 2uF caps in the Type D schematic and that removed most of the strange noises. Swapped out the Quad 306 for another Quad 405-2 and that cured completely the issue. Here is the rework with some quick and dirty connections. Am currently looking at the differences between type D and E. Might completely refresh the first crossover to E type and compare.
  7. Hey all, a newbie here who might have bitten off more than he can chew. I’ve been in contact with a retired electrical engineer who is selling a 1956 Klipschorn and a Klipschorn clone that he built himself using the same components. Both have been in his garage for who knows how long. I’ve currently taken the mid range horns home (his garage was too cluttered to get the bass bins out). He’s dropping the bass bins at my place on Saturday. Is anyone interested in restoring these? I don’t think I have the know how to restore these. So far I deposited $500 and the understanding is I’m buying them for $1000. Will upload pics in a bit. I live in downtown LA and Ye seller is in San Diego area. Alternatively if someone knows of someone in the SoCal area with restoration experience who can offer help that'd be great. as a start, pictures of the 1956 mid range horn here: https://imgur.com/a/XvOSI
