ajcllc
Has anyone ever tried yellow video interconnects for surround sound? They sound very good as "poor-man's" interconnects, probably because they are shielded.
Moderators Youthman Posted December 9, 2008 Moderators Share Posted December 9, 2008 Wire is wire. The yellow is no different than the red/white stereo cables, just color coordinated to help people visually with connections. Not sure why you would want to. To me, the gauge is smaller than what I would want to use. Wouldn't monoprice.com be just as cheap? Wouldn't two video cables cost more than one standard rca stereo cable? ajcllc
I'm not really sure of the price, but I have several that I have never used in the past for video. (They were included in some DVD players that I purchased in the past.) So, I thought I would try some for the fun it. Hence, I was very impressed by the results. Gauge will help, but I believe that they sound so clear because they are shielded. Try some, and I think you might be surprised.
wuzzzer
There are definite benefits to using a shielded interconnect, but I'm not sure what you mean by using them for surround sound? Are you using the yellow cables exclusively as opposed to other interconnects?
ajcllc
Yes, for 5.1-channel surround minus the subwoofer cable.
