nezff
I have a feeling there is really nowhere to get a onkyo 805, so I will have to settle for something else. I am currently looking into these receivers: Onkyo TX SR876 Onkyo TS SR806 something equal in the DENON line? something equal in the YAMAHA line? something equal in the MARANTZ line? any advice is greatly appreciated. I am looking to get a great receiver with a good bit of wattage. If anyone has any other ideas for a great receiver at a decent price, Im all ears. Bill H.
http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-TX-SR805-Channel-Theater-Receiver/dp/B000OBJW1S Used price was 475.00 I saw This link on Amazon.com for the 805.........but wasn't comfortable with the "Sellers" that were trying to sell there Used Units. Amazons price New was 949.00 which wasn't that much better than buying directly (if you could get it) from Onkyo.com ................. Here a link Vann's for an 806B with full Warranty............only 619.99........... http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/features/538999972/onkyo-tx-sr806b OR http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/brand/30/1/3/21/onkyo-receivers/ http://www.shoponkyo.com/products.cfm?group_id=1&subcat=Receiver
nezff
the 806 I read was not near the performance of the old 805.
Moderators Youthman Posted February 11, 2009 Moderators Share Posted February 11, 2009 Does anyone know where I can get a new Onkyo 805? I wouldn't rule out a used one. You can find a heck of a deal in the used market with the economy being as bad as it is. Good luck.
willland
If you are willing to step it up a little, here is a great deal on the 905. They are an authorized Onkyo factory dealer. http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/ONKTXNR905/Onkyo/-TX-NR905-THX-Ultra2-140w-x-7ch-HDMI-Receiver-BLACK/1.html Bill

convicted21
Why do all the newer Onkyo's not have the extra AC outlets on the back anymore??
TNRabbit
No HDMI (overrated) but this is one HELLUVA receiver for the $$$$: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260357074878&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123
Moderators Youthman Posted February 12, 2009 Moderators Share Posted February 12, 2009 Wow, I've never seen a reciever that had 200 watts/ch. Pretty sweet. I would still look for a receiver with HDMI and the new HD Audio codecs. Just my opinion.
RockOn4Klipsch
I would get the sunfire reciever IMO, the onkyo's are built well and sound decent. The HDMI is a nice plus but not a neccessity, a reciever IMO is for sound processing and not so much video processing. If you have a Hi-Def TV you already have HDMI capability, the sunfire gives you analog inputs for the new sound formats so assuming you have/get a player with analog outs you're not losing anything. Actually gaining in crafstmanship, build quality, and it's way cooler to have something sunfire than a something Onkyo.
nezff
if you are referring to the receiver pointed out to me on ebay, NO I will never buy a receiver used on ebay with no warranty from a unauthorized dealer. I dont trust them. I would rather have a piece of mind. So I take it the 876 is a great receiver.
carbon summit
How about a UMC-1 to match your amp? I realize that would mean spending more on another amp but just a thought... I'm going down the evil road of separates right now. Thinking about selling my Yamaha 663 and getting the UMC-1 when it is released. I say evil because its one more area of audio spending. Will the bleeding ever stop??? [8-)]
