******** IMPORTANT FOR THIS WEEKEND*********

Email me if your coming friday night. I will give you my address and cell phone. indyklipschfan@yahoo.com

I will send out emails asap.

Party starts after 7 PM.

============================================================================

First the good news!

Were going to have a un- official summer get together in Indianapolis, Indiana.

So...

Who? YOU, and anyone else with a passion for things Klipsch audio wise. So drive, fly, whatever, just get to Indy.

What? A get together we will call for now "IndyFest 2009" celebration!

Where? Indianapolis, Indiana

When? June 12-14 2009

Why? We (Michael aka Colterphoto1 and Roger aka IndyKlipschFan) think a annual get together is a great idea. Especially in bad times. It allows us to share ideas, set ups, and learn from each other. We will demo "All things Heritage" from the smallest to the biggest, and a LOT of the Pro Gear including a full MCM system and the mighty Jubilees too. All in one weekend.. You can get your ears full of that classic Klipsch sound, learn about drivers and x overs and how to keep your Klipsch speakers running for life!

You can also bring your own gear to Michael's to trade/ demo, if you like as well.

More details to follow below. Add your name, please.

So here we go.............

June 12th, 2009 - Friday Get Together

Friday night 6 PM on will be a get together at Roger - IndyKlipschFan's house. Hopefully, a beautiful night with some inside and outside music.

We will take a collection for Pizza for everyone around 7 PM and have some drinks. If you want something stronger your on your own. We have a grill for those that want to grill out as well. I have 3 - 4 systems to demo including a nice Home Theater for those to "experience." This is just a great way to start the weekend, relax, and welcome everyone to the madness of Klipsch. Pure social fun with no real agenda except to enjoy everyones company too.

June 13th, Saturday 2009

Breakfast on your own.

9 AM or so???

Meet at the House of Klipsch and the new "work shop" called Roadies at Colterphoto1's! Were all part of the Klipsch Live concert day at a park, close to Michaels! So be a roadie, or hang out. It will be fun to hear younger kids try to prove themselves, and hear it all on the BIG BOY Klipsch MCM system too!

This is Michaels dream, let's have a good time with him!

7:00 PM on.......

Help load up, a quick dinner then back to Colterphoto1's house..

The mighty Klipsch MCM's. the 600 series, and even more listening and just playing around.

We will squeeze in as much as we can with smallest to biggest. if you have Demo equipment, or for sale items bring them here... We will still have good time and hang out to music and mayhem!

At night we will have a campfire. So bring the smores, or whatvever drinks you need and come hang out and just relax.. The music should be good, and after a full day just hang out and have fun.

Sunday June 14th - Michael is open to do more listening testing and educating at his house... If you have a special request this is a good time to try it out or get attention too. More demos and more relaxed... we can go with the flow here.. a lazy day.... We realize some will go home early Sunday, some might stay till Sunday night ? Michael said he is flexible here.

This is a good start to the weekend. I will edit more as it becomes more clear and also what some of you may want to see n hear too. I will update this post as we get more of a real feel how many will be coming etc.,later.

=============================================================================================================

Why are we doing this..???? Klipsch has decided to not do a summer Klipsch Pilgrimage in Indy or Hope or anywhere for that matter. We understand with the economy and various factors in their decision to do so. We all wish them well, and continued success. Many of you on here have a desire and a passion for their products and a willingness to help each other grow in their own audio journeys too, in all things Klipsch speaker wise. We want to encourage that too.

AT THIS TIME, PLEASE HELP US AND TELL US IF YOUR GOING TO COME. I WILL ADD YOUR NAME TO THIS THREAD, SO WE HAVE A HEAD COUNT. EVERYONE OFF OF THE BOARD AND ANYONE FROM KLIPSCH IS WELCOME. WE MUST HAVE A HEAD COUNT BY MAY 31ST 2009, TO PLAN FOR ALL OF YOU.

If it is a small group, or big one, everyone is welcome!

We will send out maps and contact numbers later to those coming by email. I will also work on some hotel info close to both of us as well.

Hope to see you here in June!! Michael (Colterphoto1) and I, Roger (IndyKlipschFan) feel were going to have a blast! The weather this time of year should be wonderful!

Please reserve a spot for me.

I may have a car show to attend that I am organizing one of those days (and I just recomended the 13th last week, rats) but that will only be a part of one day.

Talking about sensory overload for me, I cant wait.

Thanks for putting this on for all of us.

I'll plan on being there.

Regarding crossovers...something that might be interesting... I dont want to call it a crossover "shootout" but, I think it might be intersting to have a pair of Khorns or LaScalas and have the most shallow slope crossover (would that be an "A"?) and then compare that with the steepest (would that be Al K's?)

I came to my own conclusion that with the steeper slopes, you needed to be further away from the speaker before the sound "came together" as a single wave, but would take more volume... with the more shallow slopes, I speculate the sound comes together sooner (as in physically closer to the speaker) and won't take as much volume.

I've never done a side by side as I gave my AA's away. I think it would be an interesting exercise to do something like this so when people are asking about what crossovers to get, we'll have some real world side by side comparisions of at least, the two extremes.

Perhaps others have done this and it's a dumb idea... I've no idea. For me, it would be interesting.

Also... if this idea is picked up on, I happen to have one of Al's ES networks for LaScalas that I could bring.

I can set that up Richard. I have original AA's. BEC convertible A/AA's, something Dean conjured up that's similar to ALKjr. Bring your ES and we'll do it.

I envision just leaving The House of Klipsch open for experimentation as we tinker at Roadies during the afternoon. The Klipschorn v Jubilee comparisons are probably best left to smaller groups of one or two with their own source material. By then I'll have the Crown XTi's hooked up.

The idea of starting with the smaller Pro speakers and winding up the day with the Big Boys is threefold.

1. Everything will be setup like a live venue with smaller speakers to the front, as we work through them, I'll yell 'GET THOSE SPEAKERS OFF MY STAGE' [in my Brit accent of course] and we'll pull them back to reveal even bigger speakers!

2. From a listening standpoint probably best to start small.

3. This way at the end of the day we'll have either the MCM's or KP600's playing to evening festivities, bonfire and fellowship into the evening.

R- it's a shop not a barn- no livestock are involved LOL

Count me in. Alea's not currently plannin on coming this year as she'll have soccer that weekend. I'll probably end up coaching by default so may have to play coach for any game(s) that weekend if I can't find a substitute. I'm still hoping that they'll find a coach and I won't have to do more than be an assistant.

I'm planning on coming when I can. Too much fun to pass up as only about an hour drive away.

Well unless you count Colter...

Add my name to your list.

Is there anything I can bring?

Before you ask, I don't know if I can bring any of the "P" line.

It is bound to be cooler there than here~!

This royally sucks so hard that it blows, as there is no way in h-e-double-hockysticks that I'll be able to attend this.

However, I WILL be in the area the weekend of July 25 for a family reunion, thus I hope I can at least get a chance to drop in to the (in)famous House of Klipsch.

Bummer Steve. I hope I can make it down to get my yearly booster shot of progressive metal when you're in town if it's ok with Michael or course.

Hey Richard...I like that xover idea. We could even do it with some actives too and see if the time alignment has any effect or not? Actives also make it one click of a button instead of swapping a bunch of cables around.

Definitely count me in for the weekend....it's been too long since I've been in Indy.

Doc, can you give a mini-seminar on your testing methods? Maybe we could have a couple of the rigs going by then.

Sure, that'd be fun. [Y] Ya know, if we'll be listening to all those speakers, it'd be a piece of cake to run a quick curve on all of them too. I think we were both surprised back when we did all those Heresy comparisons.

That is exactly why I planned my shop with a single garage door
pointing out the side. I'll have to get a slab poured on that end so we
can put the speakers totally outside. Maybe you come down a day early and we get a lot of that out of the way? We could then do just a couple for training purposes but would have all the curves attached to each speaker we listened to.

All that old data from our tests is gone now, isn't it? This time let's copy it all to my computer right away.

How would you guys feel about doing an outdoor concert with Klispch Pro gear on Saturday? I've just been asked to help an organization by providing sound reinforcement for several young people's bands in a park in Indy. JJ and Tim Brickley (see Amy's Blog) are the contacts. I'll try to get some more info about the event tomorrow.

This is the kind of thing I've really been waiting for- a chance to really take the gear out and USE IT! This being a pro bono job for young bands will be less pressure to perform. That it's an outdoor event in June promises great weather and a Klipsch MCM system that should sound it's best. We can take extra subs with the KP682's or get more coverage with a pair of KP362's if needed. I have 6 monitors, racks of Crown power, just about everything is ready to do a gig like this.

What do ya think? Are you in?
