Metallica Tour 1998 with dB Sound EV MT4 System. 1600 Watts per high pack!

I am not familiar with this particular concert setup but it looks like they were playing in the round, since there are speakers back to back and skewed concave instead of convex. Somewhere in that array there was a big null in the bass. Presumably on each side at +/-90 degrees.

This is the 2009 AC/DC Black Ice concerts with EV X Array. BTW... According to to this article the "Monsters of Rock" had a 1 Mega Watt touring system with EV:

Harry Witz of Clair International (formerly of dB Sound) designed this system according to the article.

Metallica Tour - System Perspective
MetallicaBigView.jpg

A perspective of the current Metallica World Magnetic concert tour in the round, as they’ve done for live performances for almost 20 years. The main loudspeaker set consists of 8 equally spaced line arrays, each containing 12 Meyer Sound MILO, and 4 Meyer Sound MICA self-powered line array loudspeakers. The centrally flown array of subwoofers contains four hangs of 10 Meyer Sound 700-HP loudspeakers. The entire system as well as support for the tour is being supplied by Thunder Audio of Taylor, Michigan.

Yet even closer and clearer on the loudspeaker set for Metallica on tour, each line array modules (8 total are deployed) are made up of 12 Meyer Sound MILO modules above 4 Meyer MICA modules. All are self-powered, as are the 40 Meyer 700-HP subwoofers (four hangs of 10 each) make up the unique that TM Array, named for Meyer Sound’s Meyer Sound’s Thomas Mundorf. Digital processing on the ground is supplied by Meyer Galileo units
