Groovy new Blog look

I think it's easier to read the latest variation with the black text on the white background than the 1st update.

I also miss Amy's header with the iFi (or an RVX or something like that) satellite in it and the old school looking text that itself was rather new. Tthe text gave it a cool retro feel and the speaker made me think of one of those old school desk top microphones except being a cool looking speaker it also looked up to date at the same time.

Have fun, I'm sure we'll love whatever you end up with.

Hey, no fair criticizing until I'm done!

Hmmm... most would at least seem intended as constructive criticism, more helpful suggestions than criticisms.

Need to loosen up your erring backs a bit? Got 'em on too tight again.

Or been mucking over in the Earth Hour thread?

Sorry, I've been on edge tweaking and re-tweaking the blog software because I too have been well aware of the short-comings [:)].

I think I've got it how I like it now.

Critique away!

#^! our newish laptop seems possessed. I'd almost completed my reply and bzzzt it refreshed and it's gone. Occasinoally seems to do it when I press backspace. Maybe the wrist rest area is too flimsy.... time to clear off the desk and hook up a real keyboard and external 19" monitor.

So here goes again.

I really like the different headers for each blogger. Though your "Klipsch Chick" is the best so far but only seen one other. What model satellite is that?

Anyway.

Black on write is the easiest for me to read. One of my optometrists once told me that studies showed that was the least fatiguing. That said, color is good but avoid things like blue text on tan backgrounds. Contrast is key. I suppose even more so if one is color blind? And my eyes are getting old and new progressive lenses in the last couple of weeks so probably still in the adjusting the eyes to the new lenses phase - further aggravated by my "concrete neck" (PT who was also one of the owners a few years back used that term, also 2x4 neck, before I knew why my neck was so stifff - just saw my rheumatologist - my neck just doesn't really move much without other body parts also moving)

The main text might be a bit easier to read if just a tad larger... but in all fairness I'm using a 14" laptop monitor. I need to hook up our 19" external but the built in has much better resolution.

Just before we got the new laptop I could've sworn the really nice 23" Samsung LCD with built in tuner (so full 1080p HDTV) were going for something like $240 at the local Sam's Club. But later $300. At $240 I'm begging the MOF for a new monitor... (that's also a nice little HDTV). Maybe I got it confused with the smaller monitor only sitting next to it. Still a steal at $300 compared to the smallish LCD HDTVs. Went with 14" laptop as it's less to lug around then 15" and a lot less than the newish 17" though mostly sits on the desk.

back on track

Had to look for the blogs, forum, and other links. In old version they just seemed to be there. But maybe had to look in the orignal version. The text for links should be larger. Maybe add some more color here?

Overall it's kind of clean and simple which works for me. Please be careful of colored text on colored background.... a couple of the trials were really hard to read.

Speaking of backgrounds. The current light grey just doesn't do it for me. Too plain maybe. The background I seen now - sort of a black grill cloth look with brown bar at about the top 1/3 with black above that suggests Klipsch and the Klipschorn to me. Not sure why as the grill cloth look would be at the top - even when I first came here - maybe the top hat and grill cloth looks even with the cloth being on the bottom translates to Klipschorn in my twisted mind.

So what to do with that grey background. Maybe some personal or just random Klipsch photos? Maybe in a sepia tone given the current color scheme? Maybe the image of PWK in a cowboy hat or an image of the sculpture in the downstairs lobby. Or a collage similar to what's there. Maybe softened a bit so as not to be too distracting.

Looking good. Have fun.

The commenters avatar would be nicer. Though right now I don't miss seeing my mug ... but saved a bit by Alea's being included. Text could be larger but the blue on white that's there now is very easy to see though I only see my comment. Looking at the Tonight Show Prince post in Music blog by PhilH right now. highlight the posters ID a bit or make a different color as I had to look to find PhilH

edited - thought navigation position but typed length?

Fixing the standard navigation length position would be helpful.

PhilH has very few tags.... navigation links like blogs are up here... go to Amy's Blog with lots of tags I had to scroll down from top to find them... maybe fixed on the left or near top... or float to stay in window on the left centered in the screen vertically or near top no matter how far down one has scrolled in the blog. (I hope that makes sense).

I've been on edge

Crikey! Get back inside so you don't fall off the ledge. It can't be that bad. [:o]

Besides, jumping off the ledge at 1 to 2 stories you're aim's going to have to be pretty good or you'll just be in a lot of pain, especially now that the ground's softened up.

THe ledge is like 18 inches now. That's why they put Marketing in the basement!

The background is nicer now, I like the soft mauve color. Still have the retro uber cool headlines.

Wish the poster's name was larger or an avatar though, who's posting is important in understanding their tone and message. At least to me.

Hey Gang!

You should check out the Klipsch Blogs now! Amy has convinced a small army of Klipschers to post about their experience in music and industry, there's some really interesting posts by some great Klipsch employees. So read up and make a post or two over there to let em know that we're reading their stuff, mmmk?

yer buddy,

Michael

Thanks for the blog-enthusiasm, Michael! And also for the suggestions, Ben!

We are working hard to get them off and running, and hopefully we'll hit a fun (and interesting!) stride soon. There should be something for everyone in there!
