New Guy Checking In

All my treatment stuff is DIY, got the plans off different websites, and just improvised some if it as well. It works pretty well to my ears.

Good thing it was cheap because right now most of it is in the hallway as I don't believe I'll need all of it with the KHorns like I did with the Martin Logans they're replacing.

As for interconnects, I've never had much luck but admittedly I haven't spent more than $100 on a pair. I definately preferred the Speltz anticable speaker cables to zip cord with the Logans, haven't had a chance to compare with the KHorns.

A quick update on my room and situation - I'm surprisingly close to getting these things sounding right in such a short time. They already sound excellent, and I'm beginning to think the amplifiers I have are better suited than I initially thought. I thought I'd turn a 100 watter on and the KHorns would blow up, or I'd turn the volume to .25 and it would be too loud. Not so. You guys can stop laughing now but when I went to the sellers house last Thursday it was the first time I had heard anything like them (except for 1 time a couple of years ago). I have absolutely no experience with these, it's a new twist on this hobby that I've been in for probably 15 years or so. The fact that these were made in nineteen hundred flippin' sixty five blows my mind. Think about that. I was made in '63 and I'm already missing a few parts and pieces [:D]

Phil says: "I could build a studio for the price of some Pears. If the room is the problem why would you not treat that first?"

Yes, but could you build a studio for the price of a $150 Kimber? Anyway, due to circumstances beyond our control <insert picture of spouse> sometimes you have problems setting up a "tube trap" museum in the living room. I don't have that problem, I was just saying..............

Thanx, Russ
