colterphoto1
Jimi Hendrix wasmurdered by his manager, according to a new book by a former roadie.James "Tappy" Wright alleges that Hendix's manager, Michael Jeffrey, once drunkenly confessed to killing the guitarist by stuffing pillsinto his mouth and washing them down with several bottles of red wine.Jeffrey-- who stood to collect $2 million as a beneficiary on Hendrix's lifeinsurance policy -- feared Hendrix was planning to fire him in favor ofa new handler, according to a report about the book, titled 'RockRoadie', as reported in Mail on Sunday. Wright claims Jeffrey -- whodied in a plane crash in 1973 -- told him in 1971 that Hendrix was"worth more to him dead than alive."Hendrix died in September1970. An ambulance crew found the 27-year-old musician's body atLondon's Samarkand Hotel, in the room of an acquaintance named MonikaDannemann. His cause of death was listed as barbiturate intoxicationand inhalation of vomit. Wright writes that Jeffrey confessed,"I was in London the night of Jimi's death and together with some oldfriends ... we went round to Monika's hotel room, got a handful ofpills and stuffed them into his mouth ... then poured a few bottles ofred wine deep into his windpipe ... That son of a ***** was going toleave me. If I lost him, I'd lose everything."
jamesV
Interesting but why come out with it now and not 38 years ago. Is he just trying to make a buck off of this? James
The Dude
R.I.P Jimmy, Ya know I just turned 27. This reminds me of the time when Jim Morrisons actuall wife claimed he was still alive, which never turned out to be true. For Jimmy's sake I would love to hear the truth, I guess I don't know if I would rather actually hear that Jimmy was murdered than o.d.ing. Same situation with Kurt Cobain and Sid and Nancy or was it just Sid. Well anyway great story Colter. duder

Not even in the same league as Jimi but yeah the truth would be nice. It is the perfect way to kill someone given their reputation. So sad. colterphoto1
Not as big of name as the others but could have been. RIP Tommy Bolin. ODing in a hotel room after a gig, his management did not summon doctors for fear of adverse publicity. At the funeral one of Jimi's ex roadies slipped a ring of Jimi's onto Tommy's hand. He would have been successor to the throne.
JL Sargent
The manager certainly had a motive. I would not be surprised at all if that was true. I've always been spellbound by Jimi's guitar. I had a 72' strat for many years and could play pretty good renditions of Little Wing and Voodoo Chile. RIP Jimi. Ever watched Monte Montgomery's version of "Little Wing" on Youtube, WOW. Johnlw7
Mike jeffery had ties to some unsavory characters. Most people were terrified of him.he took planes to the bahamas and stashed untold millions of jimi's money.IT would be easy for a few goons to hold you down and shove pills a liquor down the chute. Islander
Alan Cross, who does a radio show called The Ongoing History of New Music, dedicated a show to mysterious rock star deaths a few months ago. The death of Sid Vicious was also quite odd, but the prime suspect died a few years later, so the truth will likely never be known. Alan really covers everything related to new music. Info about the show and list of episodes here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ongoing_History_of_New_Music
