Why do we use preamps?

That would be my thoughts, however with a passive Pre-Amp you would be limited by the sensitivity of your component output. You couldn't get more volume than was origionally there (By connecting it straight to the amp). Maybe that is one of the advantages? Higher output volume?

I would guess a Pre-Amp does more than attenuate volume, like amplifying the origional source? (I'm learning, don't kill me). Smile.gif
