Yamaha P 26 direct drive, TT just stoped working, is it worth fixing?

I have a Yamaha P 26 direct drive, I let a friend borrow it & when I go back over a few days later, he says "it don't work". What it's doing is when you push the play button or lift the tone arm, the strobe lights up but the platter will not turn. It's not locked up, you can spin it freely by hand but that's it. Any help could be greatly used. I'm new here and look forward to hangin around.

Yes, it has been at the friends house for about a week now and was working fine. My guess is that he may have forced the tone arm by hand and might have tripped some lever ( i hope ), I think I will get brave tonight and dig into it. I'm merely a novice at electronics,

but I have repaired a few jukeboxes over the years. In the meantime I shall dust off my old marantz 6300 ( at my house).

Thanks for the input...I'll let you know how it turns out.
