My last two speakers for my 5.1 system

I have my three front speakers and a sub. Now I am planning on purchasing my two rear/surround speakers. I am either going to get a Pair of RS-42s or a pair of RB-61s. I have had my mind set on the RS-42s. I found the perfect place to hang them and I had everything ready for them. I was doing some reading I a noticed that usually you are better off with bookshelf speakers in the rear if you are doing more multi channel music listening?

I listen to a lot more music than I watch movies. Would I really benefit more with the RB-61s? If so, will these still sound good in movies too? I don't really have a very good place to put the RB-61s, but if it will really make a big difference with music, I will figure something out. One bad thing is that they would have to be VERY close behind the seating area, maybe one foot at max.

I was siding towards the RS-42s at first because I want a nice, full sound in my room. Will the RB-61s fill my room just as well?

....EDIT:

Well now that I look at the RF 62 configuration, I notice that the RS 52 would be the Surround, IF you were going to 7.1 system.

Because they will be so close, I honestly am unsure of my last statement. Hopefully more folks will chime in to help.

Enjoy and Post Pics when you get set up !

Two things.

1. I assume you have the RB 61 HT setup ?

I have RF-62 mains, an RC-62, and a sub-12.

2. From my view go ahead and get the RB 61's for your Rear Speakers..........

You think I should get the RB-61s even though they will be less than a foot behind the seating area?

Here is a Quote from Form Member on almost the same problem.

If
you're setting up a 5.1 system your surround speakers are meant to be
placed to the side of your listening position. 7.1 adds two rear
speakers. Its recommended to use wide-dispersion speakers for side
surrounds and direct-radiating speakers for rear surrounds.

That being said, I have floorstanding direct-radiating speakers as my side surrounds and have enjoyed them very much.

For
me it would make a difference as to how much music versus how much
movie watching. If you're going to be mainly using everything for
movies I'd suggest the S-3s, if you do a lot of multi-channel music
listening I'd suggest the B-3s.
