Yes, you are correct, the car does not indicate the performance of the RD

See, I was able to make that statement in one sentence.... pretty neat ehh.

I never started a pissing contest, a contest is a between others. I made no comparisons to your car or others. But the fact that the cars I did list would be commonly driven at high speeds (because that is pretty much what they are made to do) might indicate that the drivers of those vehicles would want the best. (strictly a guess)

Yes, Escort has a whole model line up from garbage, to kind sorta garbage, to higher than average garbage, to really really really good garbage/encroaching on V1 or better.

Well that is great, but historically V1 does not offer a product line up, they have no experience in making garbage, they just make quality.... period. I respect that. You don't have to, its still pretty much a free world.

Valentine co-started Cincinnati Microwave until he and his father were bought out, Kinda flies in the face of he has no experience in making garbage if you call the Cincinnati Microwave stuff garbage. [:o]

I don't give a flying fig of who owns what, who pays for what etc etc.

There are all kinds of economic dealings & relationships between businesses that in the end result matter nothing to the final product. Ex: Logitech has a financial relationship with Phonak (hearing aid company) Phonak has a relationship with Bausch and Lomb (sp). (whoop di doo) I doubt for a second Bausch tells UltimateEars what to do (recently aquired by Logitech) Phonak just aquired Advanced Bionics, and on and on it goes....

If a person buys a V1, they know they are getting the best made by V1, that person doesn't have to worry about other models within the V1 family line etc, scrimping here, sacrificing something to save a buck etc etc. None of those wories exsist. If you have and Escort, or drive an Escort, I aplologize profusely if I offended you. It was not my intention to do so.

Escort bashing eh? Arrow pointing is so novel when you have to pay 2 arms and 2 legs and still have to pay fines. I have never been chase by a black and white (doing an average 95MPH for the last five years) eversince I own an Escort, so what's your problem?

Noah,

Another thing to think about is that all of the Cincinnati Microwave Products are available via mail order only. They are not sold via retailers. Every model shipped has it's serial number recorded by the factory and they check the serial number every time to see if the person returning it for repairs is the orriginal purchaser of the unit. If the names do not match, they contact the orriginal owner. (one of the two founders wifes unit was stolen and they aprehended the two crooks who showed up in person to try to get a new power cord)

My older unit actually has an electronic key that has several hundred thousand possible electronic signitures (I could not use my key on your radar detector) After so many hours of use, an unlabeled LED blinks for several hours of use to remind you to plug in the key to reset the unit. If the key is not inserted within several hours, the unit locks up and will not work again until the key is inserted. (so hopefully a thief will send it for repairs) The orriginal owner is given the information with his unit on ordering a replacement key if he looses it, but since I keep mine on my key ring, I have never lost it, and chances are a crook would never know about the function anyhow.

Some older Escort detectors do not have POP radar detection which does not make Escort bad.

When I said, "I was popped", I wasn't referring to POP mode traffic radar, as it wasn't even marketed at that time. It is still not in widespread use today. The Escort I was using wasn't lousy because of no POP detection, it was because of lousy rearward detection of k-band radar. I am sure that Escort has improved their products since that time, but so has Valentine. The Escorts are like claw hammers, the Valentine is like a nail gun.

Cincinnati Microwave is now Escort.

Roger,

Now, that's interesting.

So when you say Cincinnati Microwave , by that do you include Escort? I think I missed it when you were explaining who started who and who owns who now...

I know that Escort and Betronics are both owned by the same company; is that Cincinnati Microwave?

Not True! I bought my Escort Solo S2 at Best Buy.

Neo,

They must have changed policy, because they used to advertise that fact. Did you receive any literature with your unit to register your serial number with the company to have it recorded for this sort of theft protection???

BEWARE OF VALENTINE- RIPOFF SCUMBAGS THEIVES- DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH VALENTINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My escort 9500 was sent back for service/upgrade- box arrived empty- Escort people were less than helpful so I decided to try a valentine. The salesman convinced me to buy a factory refirb unit - 100.00 savings- suposedly a test unit for a magazine article. The unit arrived DOA. I spoke with some really nasty lady in customer service- I think her name was Penny- not sure. I offered to upgrade to new unit and pay the difference. No dice. Send the old one back and credit would be issued. All charges would be refunded. Then I could purchase new. I sent the unit back. The same woman told me that the power cord was bad. They issued a credit fot THE UNIT ONLY. So at this time I am out 2 shipping charges of 30.00 each. The woman tells me that this was a power cord problem only-so no refund on the 1st shipping charge. I asked to speak to Mike Valentine. She responed" there will be no talking to the owner". I asked for his e-mail address- she said to send it to the general mailbox. If I was going to continue to be a problem they would keep both shipping charges. I went completely ballistic and let her know exactly how I felt with explectives. Bottom line- I did not get any of my shipping back- out 60.00- no radar detector. I hope at some point that I see these people at a trade show so that I can walk up and tell them exactly what I think of them in person. I have resrtained my self from other courses of action. This is the worst expierence that I have ever had from any company-period.

I had great service out of the 9500 Escort. Driving a Porsche I am a constant cop target. I will buy a new 9500 within the month. I have a Porsche dealer who sells them at a nice discount. Contact me if you need one. I will hook you up.

The people at valentine are spreading rumors/lies? that the Redline models are simply old leftover BEL units from the Purchase of BEL by Escort a while back. Based on my expierence- I would not believe anything that they say.

There is no way I would even begin to refute your story... and I would be angry to the hildt.

That said, I did have to work with V1's customer service when I sent mine in for an up-grade. That went fairly well. BUT what did happen was the currier service placed the V1 box some where out of obvious sight, I came home at night in the rain, and I did not notice the box either. (again it was essentially hidden) Any how I called up the currier, made them send it back to V1, and have them asses if there was any water damage. (V1 said that there was not and sent the RD back to me) No other events to report regarding this. Essentially the process of up grading was not a smoothe affair but it was not the fault of V1.

I wish u the best with your Escort or what ever you decide to do...

This was a couple months back and I am still 12 shades of POed. I am sure that the VI is a good functional unit and that there are many positive transactions daily. I just fell into a situation on a refirb unit that they were going to shove it down my throat come heck or high water. I am still in shock that they would treat a paying customer in such an unprofessional and arrogant manner. In my business we have problems where the customer is dead wrong but I would never in a million years pull a stunt such as this. I will never own a V1 even if it is free. Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This series of events are 100% true with no exaggeration whatsoever.

I bought 2 Escort Solo S2, one for myself and one for my girlfriend. Her got a problem where the LCD would not come up when there's an alert and it was out of warrantee. I called Escort and told them I bought 2 and one had a problem. They told me to send the broken one back and they sent me a new one and they even pay shipping for it. It has been 5 years and my Solo S2 is still protecting me. It not just about customer service but also reliability. I heard a lots of problem arising with the V1. Valentine is bathmouthing the Escort Redline out of jealousy because he couldn't come up with a better model.
