jason str
I had a Marantz 2265 back in the day and it was a very sweet sounding receiver with plenty of power to boot. The price sounds reasonable, just be ready to spend some cash for repair and updates, something that old needs at least the capacitors replaced after all these years. jason str
Altec Valencia 846a Never heard any Quad equipment so i could not compare the two Many here run Marantz and seem happy, i always liked the warm Marantz sound.
winchester21
i love the old marantz stuff- The bad news is the repair bills. Be prepared to pay out the nose to get a refirb- There is one guy who the forum members use who does a killer job- once repaired toy will have one sweet amp but the cost could turn into 600.00+ Several people here have had restorations done - ask around and check old threads
