ahenson
Right now I have 2 black Forte IIs I need a center and rear speakers and a sub. Would an academy be the best? I thought about a sv subwoofer. I have an older denon reciever and I'd like to keep it. Any advise for a heritage surround system.
jason str
Matching speakers would be ideal if you can swing it. Keep the Denon if it still works for you, they sound decent enough. You shure you need a sub with the Forte's ? Properly positioned they have decent lows as is but if you do go with a subwoofer in the mix be sure to get something that will keep up not mud up the tight sound of the Forte II's. Ironsave
Academy would be really good; or a CF7...... On a budget? A KV3 is decent enough.... (especially if you can set individual EQ settings for each individual speaker with your receiver)..... I like my SS3s for rear surrounds alot. Also; KG 2.5s or possibly KG2s might work well enough. An IDEAL setup is 5 or 7 of the exact same speaker..... Most people cannot swing that due to size of room; money; or both.... Good Luck.... ahenson
ya I think I'll nix the sub. I live in a condo with neighbors o that might be for the best. So an academy or a kc7 and forte or quartet surround would be sweet?
ahenson
So if I wanted to save some cash I could buy a C7 on ebay and I've heard the rears aren't so important. What should I buy for the rears? Is the academy that much better than a c7?
jason str
I would try to match all the speakers for best performance, if you have screen issues due to the magnets sucking or distorting your screen you can install bucking magnets to alleviate the problem. wuzzzer
With my Forte II fronts I've owned surround speakers in this order: 1) SS.5 2) RS-42 3) KG 3.5 4) Forte Without a doubt the Fortes sound the best. Movies, music, they all sound amazing. Watching movies like 2012 with helicopters panning around front to back, left to right, wow! Even though they're still not technically the same since my fronts are Forte IIs and my surrounds are Forte Is, they make for a pretty amazing combo.
