pythagore
Hi fellow Klipschters, I have been looking for a tube amp to power my RF-83s A fellow Canucks offered me a pair of Shanling SP-80 for $1200CAD (==$1190 USD) . Any experience with these amps? They are 50Watts/ch, is 50w/ch enough to power my RF-83s to75-85dB level? Can I find better tube amp at that price range? wuzzzer
50 watts is enough to power them to 110-115 dB. Less than one watt will give you more than the output you want.
Brockybear
I have had a set of the Shanlings for over a year now and they brilliant value for money. I have them driving a pair of Heresy III speakers. They are quiet, accurate with good solid bass. I dont think you could go wrong having a pair of these amps.
