How much space is needed between the front two channels? I am wanting to upgrade my front left and right speakers to frontstanding speakers (Pipedream). Right now if I use the stand there will be 5 leet between the left and right speakers.. If I could figure out how to cover the wire in front of a door I could increas the distance between the speakers to about 12 feet. I sit about 12 feet back from the screen and front speakers. I am looking at the RF 82's and an RC 62 vs my current RB 61's.

Search around there are products which are made for this and are paintable for maximum blending. If you get really ambitious and own the place you might investigate going up into the wall and back down the desired wall location. A fish tape wire and a hole drill bit are good tools for this.

I own the place. I was thinking of going under the floor and drilling a couple of holes but I really hate that ideaof drilling through hard wood flooring. Going through the wall could be a pain in the @$$ because of the doorway and how the doorway is studded up. What products are out there?

Search this forum, especially in the ht section, I've seen some decent solutions. Personally I went through the walls into the attic and back down, and yes parts were a pita. The fish tape properly secured would go between cross studs and the drywall with patience and effort.

Actually I was wondering if an upgrade in speakers from RB 61's to RF 82's would be worth the $1600 cost. Even if I kept the distance between the front speakers the same as they currently are.

I can't answer that question for you I don't know much about the Rf line.

One thing I did in the bedroom was to slightly pull out the top of the trim on the door and the floor moulding and put the wire behind it push it back and caulk the seam, you can't see it or tell the difference. Now it was in a bedroom and also #18 wire with a thin jacket and it was a short run 5' plus around two doors but it worked.

Rhanks for the input. I jumped the gun on this idea of new front speakers. There isn't enough room for floorstanders My room is not deep enough because they would be right up against the back wall and that's not good for a floorstanding speaker. If I did move one past the door frame the speaker would come out into the hallway too far.

I was going to say that I have about that much room between my RF-83 and sit closer then 12 feet. Just the limitations of the house but I still wanted the RF-83 so I got them and just worked with it. It sounds really good to me and my gf, that is the only thing that matters.

Thanks James this gives me something to think about. The 83's are way out of my budget so I am looking at the 82"s. Glad you have them and like them. How do they do musically? I know dumb question.

They are good for music but my Cornwalls are a lot better. It is nice to put on the radio or a cd and let the 5.1 RF-83 setup breath it does shake the walls and I can hear nice and clear outside. I guess it all really depends on what kind of music you listen to but for me I'm happy.

Just wanted to let you know that you can still get them and work around the room issues.

I am chiming in with my experience from the Klipschtreff in Germany.

Werner´s room (Klipsch Rep) is "only" 18m² where his RF83´s and KHorns are! You can set them up better but even in this space you get great results. I would not worry to much if there is "enough" room, think of them as big earphones.[;)]

Get the ones you want and enjoy!!!
