A single Lab 12. In use there will be four (or more) per side to go to 28hz.

Yes, it really needs to be that big in free space (4Pi). Here is a 100hz horn I made around 1981, same width but a bit shorter (size is identical to an Altec 210 horn, but for a pair of 12s):

Correct. The above photo had an F3 in 2Pi of 95hz, and was actually crossed at 200hz in 4Pi to have constant directivity.
