3-D TV? The New Quad Sound?

What a joke. Are they that desperate for sales that they've got to pin the "next big thing" moniker on 3-D. 50 years down the road and they still haven't figured out that it's still just a gimmick.

What are we a bunch of Elvis imitators, doomed to sit around our living rooms, wearing sunglasses in the dark. Headache anyone?

Can't wait to watch the local news in 3-D. Thrill to the action when the fire department rescues a cat out of a tree and it leaps into the camera!

Sports will be fun. "Hey you, quarterback. Throw the ball towards the camera, not towards the open receiver, what are you some kind of clown?"

Ya get my drift?

I gotta disagree with the Thebesarator on this one. Technology finally caught up with the 3-D concept. I've seen several 3-D IMAX movies and they were dam near holographic. You gotta go check one of these out. Finally 3-D is really good and lives up to the hype. I don't know about the local news but I can't wait to see some triple D [H] I can't wait for a 3D HDTV [ip]

I am still wondering why ANYONE would want to watch Andrea Mitchell in High Def.

They said that about the wheel, horseless carriages, color tv, telephone, radio, computers, electricity, and about 4 quadrillion other things.

JJK

and the elcassette, digital audio tape (dat), mini disc, HDDVD, and on and on. most new items don't make it. it's easy to get supply of a new technology ramped up, it's the demand side that is the challange.

Porn in 3D on a 60" screen,,,Hmmmmmmmm !!!!!!!!

I'm guessing reaching toward the screen resulting in jammed fingers could become a common household injury.

.

Or the medics finding you on the floor cause of a seizure and the "flick" on repeat...

No, no my friend, you simply haven't' studied my pearls of wisdom sufficiently. Listen closely while I set you on the path to Thebesurvana.

I'm a light tv user averaging 5 to 7hours a week, versus four to five hours a night for far to many of our sedate and overweight populace. Imagine if you will a typical family of four ensconced upon the couch night after night, peepers wrapped in plastic. Imagine mom and pop on the highway the next morning, depth perception destroyed joining millions of others in fender benders at every traffic light across the land.

Now trust me. Once you've showed this 3-D gizmo off to your friends it will soon be gathering dust, or sold to settle a traffic lawsuit. Run, don't hide from this latest technological gimmick. Holograhpic I can get behind, but it's a ways off, just like true virtual "reality".

Anybody remember "Sensurround"?

3-D might be cool of it wasn't for those silly glasses. I just can't see myself sitting in front of the gizmotron with those dorky glasses on. What's the real world look like through them...4D? Hey, that IS what I want; glasses that open up the forth dimension. And if they are also X-Ray so I can see the girlie's ta-ta's, that'd be swell. Just so I don't get sucked into that 4th dimension and get squeezed through some kind of worm hole and get squirted out in the dark ages. That would totally suck. Totally.

I still shoot slide film in a 1950's stereo realist. Just got a nice slide veiwer. What I need now is a silver screen and projector. You should see the slides I've taken at concerts and the burlesque pretty things peepshow : )

I don't mind the glasses as long as they are polorized and not the colored glasses.

Everything old is new again : )
