Ironsave
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-770&vReviewShow=1 This seems like a really good deal..... I am almost there.... ready to list my Klipsch KSW10 and buy this puppy..... Thoughts?
JL Sargent
I haven't tried one but it looks like a fun little project putting together. My only concern is if the amp is really big enough to get the job done. I think you should go for it.
Ironsave
Yeah, I know what you mean about the amp.... but I trust (many here do) parts express, and there is a warranty.... so...... Maybe the amp and box with a better woofer....... Hmm..... [^o)]
Ironsave
I am interested in more opinions.... anyone?
CECAA850
Have you read all the reviews?
Ironsave
Yes, I read the reviews.... Overall real good. I do not consider this truly "building" a sub, but I just wondered if anyone here may have heard it; or those with experience building subs; what their opinion may be.... jason str
The amp and driver is the same combo i used in my Tuba HT, both are quality, solid built products but since they are used in a horn loaded cabinet i cannot judge how they would sound in the supplied cabinet. You can always try it out and if you are not happy with it the driver would also work with a ported cabinet or the horn loaded Tuba HT build if you really want some musical bass. Ironsave
Yeah, Jason I saw that monster of a sub you built! [H] ( I'd have been all over it; but definitely no room for it).... I have decided to give this a try..... what the he**! I am not sure if I like the way that driver looks... (smaller magnet than I would like). I am considering a different driver..... Jason, what were your thoughts about said driver? I know a sealed encloure requires more power to acheive a given level of sound, but I have alway liked sealed subs for metal and hard rock. If I do not like this, then yeah, I will look into a ported or horn cab....... Thanks.
jason str
Jason, what were your thoughts about said driver? Thanks. Very impressive, solid stamped steel frame, stiff lightweight cone & rubber surround for long lasting sounds. I was so impressed with my purchase i used the Dayton Classic 10" model for my next experiment.
Ironsave
Ok..... My concerns laid to rest...... Thanks again.... Looks like this project is a go!!!! (I will be ordering on Thursday). []
TheEAR
Just FYI ... The sub "kit" at PE in the link does not use a Dayton DVC 15". The Driver used on the TubaHT is a Dayton DVC 15".
Ironsave
Thanks, but this is out of stock; no ETA when it will be available. After extensive research... I decided on an Emotiva Ultra 12 sealed sub. ($359shipped). I think I will be happy.......
