SuBXeRo Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 i need some HT furniture suggestions. Specifically i am looking for a new TV stand. It has to be able to fit my emotiva XPA-5 in it and must be wood construction, or wood veneer. I dont like the all glass and metal stands, no a/v racks either. I got a 46" flat and i am trying to eliminate the use of a audio rack since space is a bit more limited iod rather just use my stand. thoughts? Also maybe something that has a place to fit a larger center channel. Quote
BluBitRates Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I know its not what you are looking for, but i am using a z-line stand with the mount in the back for the tv. It accomidates a center speaker (will fit an rc-64) and then on my bottom rack it holds my receiver and bd-player. If i raised the tv up a little bit i would have another whole shelf for 2 more components. Bell-o makes some really cool furniture too. Quote
SuBXeRo Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 a piece of furniture with a stand on the back is a great idea, i just cant decide wheather or not i wanna go that route. It would give me the room for the center to be on the top which is a better location too. i'll go and check out the bello stuff, i also have a a huge window behind the tv so mounting it to the wall isnt an option unfortunately Quote
liebherr954 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I just picked up this unit for my basement. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for but my wife approved. In the side doors there is shelfs and slide out DVD holders ( I didn't put those in) I checked to see if my PS3 would work behind the door when it was closed and no problems at all. Its was a bit pricey ($1100) but its solid wood and it is very well built. http://www.kincaidfurniture.com/item_detail_type.cfm?pid=5154 Quote

liebherr954 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 id stroke spending that ahahahahaha and so would my gf let alone i cant afford it, that is a nice piece though, i like it alot Thank you I do like it a lot as well. I had no intention of spending that much but my wife was complaining about the other entertainment stands we looked at. I half believe she picked this one on purpose so I couldn't get my amp right away[6] Sanus Systems has some very nice stuff, Ive seen a lot of it on CL and Kijiji brand new for fair prices. http://www.sanus.com/us/en/products/av-foundations/ Salamander Designs is nice too, I have no idea what there cost is though (looks expensive) http://www.salamanderdesigns.com/products/av.jsp Quote
Kriton Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Hey I was in the same predicament for my HT setup - I bought one of these PS-33 racks, simple, wood laminate tops and metal tubing - very sturdy. I have my center channel on top, the Sunfire pre and amp on the second shelf, with the Blueray player in the center and power conditioner on the bottom shelf, on rollers, works like a charm. THey have cool velcroed back wood panels to hide the wiring that you can take off - nicely engineered and the options are decent. Make sure you measure and be sure that your components will fit, but it certainly can handle the weight. I was able to get it for about half what they are asking retail, as they go on special every now and then - they have a bunch of cool other racks on there that won't break the bank either, shipping was by flatpack and delivery by a local shipping co., just FYI. http://www.studiotech.com/products/plasma_tv_stands/performance_series_ps-33/index.html Bruce Quote
SuBXeRo Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 so im getting gafed (girlfriend acceptance factor) and well, it is her apt too so she has a say. We both like this one by bello, its not what i was originally looking for but it would work, the price is the hinderance, i can find it for 400ish with no tax or shipping cost but its still more than i wanted to pay. http://www.ultimateelectronics.com/product.php?id=BLGAVSC2061E Quote
Ironsave Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 I know this may not sound like a popular choice; but: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Pamplona-LCD-Plasma-Flat-Panel-Mount-TV-Console/12172517 It's around $225 I think. We use it for the 52" Sharp Aquos and there is plent of room for my center; Onkyo, a DVD/VCR combo, cable, and I still have room left over. The shelves are black, but the walnut matches my Heresies nicely..... I am very happy because the TV is up higher than most stands will put it. (This is adjustable). Good Luck! Quote
jamesV Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 You can take a look at Bush Furniture, I purchased my stand and a/v rack about 3 years ago and it's still going strong and no problems. I know you mentioned no glass but they have others that looked real nice also. I got those ones to kind of match my cherry RF-83, the wood on those stands are solid wood segments. Also, any chance that you can build something yourself? It would be a lot cheaper and be exactly what you need. James Quote

If you have access to quality wood working tools and have some basic wood working skills you can make an entertainment stand exactly to your specifications. Plus you would have the satisfaction knowing that you made it. There are tons of plans on the internet, a magazine called Woodsmith is my favorite http://www.woodsmithstore.com/w1001.html Quote
SuBXeRo Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 building it, putting the time in, making it look good, none of that do i have, i live in an apt too, i mean that hasnt stopped me but id rather buy one and have it look good right from the get go haha. Quote
