Although you do not have Good Guys in New York, they have 6-peice Klipsch speaker systems for ~$1500.

If you need EVERYTHING for $2000, got a 32" TV (~$600), DVD player (~$200), Receiver (~$300), and a small Klipsch speaker system (~$900). It would be a very nice system, and if set up properly (well help!) will be 90% of what we ($$$) have. I think, if you shop wisly, $2000 will be fine to get a nice system.

Good luck, give us more feedback for more info!

Receiver: Sony STR-DE675

CD player: Sony CDP-CX300

Turntable: Technics SL-J3 with Audio-Technica TR485U

Speakers: JBL HLS-610

Subwoofer: JBL 4648A-8

Sub amp: Parts Express 180 watt

Center/surrounds: Teac 3-way bookshelfs

Yes, it sucks, but better to come. KLIPSCH soon! My computer is better than my stereo!

Oh good, $2000 will get you mad speakers. 1st recommendation, maybe a little pricy:

-RF-3II: dual 8" main speakers, VERY nice ($800 list)

-RC-3II: Nice center channel ($350 list)

-RS-3II: Nice surround speakers ($550 list)

-RSW-10: Very nice 10" subwoofer ($1000 list)

-TOTAL LIST: $2,700, if you shop hard, you could get this for under $2,000

Synergy, cheaper, but still good:

-SF-2: Nice floorstanding speakers, main ($650 list)

-SC-1: Nice center channel speaker ($280 list)

-SS-1: Nice surrounds ($400 list)

-KSW-15: BIG 15" subwoofer, lower bass, but not as "clean" as the RSW-10 ($750 list)

-TOTAL LIST: $2,080, you could get this for around $1,500 if you shop hard. Get better components if you can afford it.

Good luck!

ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS, I AM NOT THE TOTAL KING HERE!!!

OK $2,000 for speakers? If you don't mind affording the room you'll need for them, how about this? Remember this is well under $2,000.

1 - Mains - Cornwall 1's - $800 -$1,000 (Ebay or local if lucky)Something from the mid 70's or so. Alnico magnets and Type B crossover. OOOOH Ya!!!!

2 - Centre - Heresy (1) - $175 - $225 From the same vintage as mains.

3 - Surrounds - Heresy's (2) - $375 - $450 (pair) Same vintage as above.

Another option is to go with a complete Heresy system. It won't kick butt like the Cornwall mains but will take less room, cost less and will be no slouch.

These are used...yes used, but don't let that turn you off. The 70's heritage Klipsch line is very VERY arguably better than anything they now offer new. The horn loaded mid makes all the difference.

Regards,

Stu
