Spotted some Klipsch in the wild today

My wife and I went to Jimmy John's for $1 sub sandwiches today and while waiting in line I thought the music sounded really good. I looked up in the corner of the ceiling and spotted a pair of Klipsch outdoor speakers! Unfortunately my wife left her purse and phone at home so I couldn't get a pic of them.

[:@][8o|] This is a repost of the second thoughtfully prepared post our flaky laptop deleted before posted. So here's the quick incoherent version. [8o|][:@]

Jimmie Johns occasionally bring a bunch of samples into work. The, as do other places, perturb me as they all have mayo, mustard, or some other spread on every sandwich. When will they, and others, learn that not everyone likes said spreads. [+o(]

Work picnic last Friday. Some Heresies accross the lot (ok, Heresies as restored / resurrurected by GMLA51 as Heresy 1 Extremes) at work picnic / cornhole tournament.

.... the Rat Shack mixer on top. The JBL receiver, which had been working fine all summer powering our outdoors tunes, turned into a very large heavy mute switch when connected Friday morning. [:'(]

But it still sounded pretty doggone good and was plenty loud enough ... even had to turn it down a bit during the cornhole tournament instructions. Don't think I bothered to tell anyone I had a microphone ... but it was quite a distance to the cornhole scoring board (approximately where picture was taken - edit - quite a way further as we had 4 pairs of cornhole boards).

The trophy we were playing for. King Kenny cropped out to protect the innocent. Company, and Kenny's name paint(ed) out in case the mothership doesn't approve of the serfs having fun at work.

I think someone mentioned it was a traveling trophy.... winners name and year on the back?

Kind of reminds me of the beer pong trophy Elyse made...

Planning has begun for the 2nd annual. Corn Hole. I think the board should have a hole cut in it with the corn through it but hey this was basically one of the woman at work deciding we need to do something fun at work ... so she's now our official party coordinator. Probably take a real amplifer this year but don't have a spare. Maybe our little PA2V2 headphone amp for backup? Might have a bit more output, or not, then the Rat Shack mixer. Or just make some cables, to power directly from the Rat Shack Mixer. I've seen one of these in local Pawn Shop for $100. I think I paid less. And mine's a lot nicer looking. Need to replace burnt out light behind one of the VU meters then good as new. One of those little t amps would be nice. Sounded pretty good with the mixer powering with receiver as mute switch - Doh! take spare amp. Need to repair something so have a spare. Or find something cheap at thrift store.

Thought I had with a Yamaha and Onkyo receiver from Carmel? Goodwill. I was thinking one might at least function reasonably well.

The Yamaha turns on and has kind of mostlly worked for a while... cleaned all the pots helped but the variable loudness control if not full on or off cuts the music, one channel cuts in and out.... maybe start with better cleaning of variable loudness control or find out how to bypass?

The Onkyo doesn't even power up though looks to be in better shape and beefier build quality. Need to start with too easy to be true - fuses, etc. Maybe bad solder. It would be nice to have some nice pro speakers so I don't risk damaging the nice veneer on the Heresies but blankets do a pretty good job of protecting. We have better wireless so may work outside. I went back to desk to work a bit and nobody ever came and got me for next match but was mathematically eliminated. By our party coordinator. And I was doing good for me. Very good. Up to late night before..

Corn hole competition? What? What? Could you explain to us less cosmopolitan types just what that is?

I first heard of it here, and to tell the Truth, whoever picked the name for that game probably is still laughing that no one has changed it yet. It just sounds bad.

Corn Hole is basically corn bag toss (bags filled of corn instead of beans) with 2 angled board approximate 2 x 3 feet about 30 feet apart. 1 point for on board. 3 if though the hole. I first saw in southern Indana at wife's family reunion and first played a few years back at Tuba's Place in Batesville Indiana.

Amy did start a thread about Cornhole That includes the following pic

Wikipedia description includes pic of board.

How to make your own. Commercial often called other things such as Tailgate Toss, or Bean Bag Toss.

American Cornhole Association (I'm not making that up) Rules, etc.

Tuesday is our second annual Fall CornHole tournament. Complete with traveling trophy etc... Maybe I'll drag out a real amplifer this time (was waiting on install of new power switch last year....) c199x Carver 125 wpc x5, 180 wpc x 2. Can deliver some serious current. Or a c 198x Pioneer 20 wpc. Or just hook directly to the mixer. Or maybe PA2V2 headphone amplifier. Which amplifier to take? (Maybe some cables to connect mixer directly or the headphone amp... wish I has a nice little t -amp. And ta power inverter that worked as working outdoor outlets are on other side of building. [:@]. At least last year. I'm thinking the Carver. Bwuhahahah..... Even though 70 db quite a ways from the CornHole was fine last year.... a little headroom is always a good thing. Bwuhahahaha. Maybe take the office CD changer. Better SQ than mp3. And maybe give them a nice 90 or 100+ workout for a few bars to let 'em know what good loud sounds like?

Office Party Coordinator is mostly classic rock so music selection is no problem. She pretty much got this going on her own last year and it really helped improve morale.... maybe found what little was left.

p.s. one of my co-workers builds and sells Corn Hole games. Not as fancy and cool as the Klipsch Engineers'... I don't think he has a CNC but much better and less co$stly than the chintzy commercial ones often called Tailgate Toss or something similar. Nor as nice as one of the owners at auto repair shop I use. The one Aaron was working on are nicer than Marks but more expen$ive and not as fold down compact and portable. But I think for True CorhHole you have to build your own. And use real field corn in the bags.... not the same without the puff of dust when it hits. Just don't let any moisture get to the corn or mold city

I did very well for me.... probably from staying up too late getting equip and tunes together and attempting to make a sugar cream pie fiasco documented as Oh @#%~! Moment Of The Day 19 September 2010, until a short (fun sized) blonde in high heels (normally at work though maybe sneekers that day?), our party coordinater, took me to the cleaners. No mercy. Mebbe I better practice a bit this weekend. LOL like that will help. I mean mathematically eliminated me. Boom. Out of the tournament.

Wonder if our new office wireless will work outside. Nothing like working to some good tunes. [8][8][8][H][8][8][8]

Our 2nd annual fall cornhole tournament. This time doubles. Won by last year's defending champion with his ringer of a partner. But on to the important part. A couple of Heresies provided the music.

Powered by an amplifier that actually worked this year. Carver AV705x. Only got around to playing 1 song on CD, "I'm Your Captain" by Grand Funk. Most music from Creative Labs Zen XTra mp3 player. All kinds of fun stuff. Mostly classic rock. Sounded even better this year with an amplifier driving the speakers instead of being driven by the RS mixer.

I was not allowed to record either video or sound today at my son's UIL band competition (he does the Clarinet) but as we were allowed into the sight reading studio I immediately noticed a pair of flying LaScalas.
