Mallette
Sheesh, quit rubbing it in. We got over it after Reconstruction. I understand the hat, but what is that rather deadly looking club? Symbol of the radical reconstructionists? Dave
oldtimer
Thebes, just remember I have contacts. Right in your neighborhood. They have ways of making you not talk (about the yankees).

oldtimer
Oh yeah. And that "march" part? Very offensive. Not PC at all! I'm still waiting for reparations over that sherman thing.
jason str
Ahhh the Yankees, i was part of the club for some time, i graduated and then went to work for Siemens and became their main donor.

Jeez, are you getting some off list replies from Thebes or something? Last three replies you appear to be talking to a phantom. Anyway, I am now wondering what someone in Northern Virginia is doing rooting for these "Yankees" with thier evel looking club and the head with the stitches in it. Just doesn't seem right somehow. However, I suspect the spectre of Gen. Robert E. Lee hovers nearby and will handle this. Dave
oldtimer
Phantoms? Now I have to worry about those too?
thebes
In 103 years since being officially named the Yankees they have won 40 World Serie. Given that history I would say that Sherman was a piker by comparison. From time-to-time the Yankees do ravage the South, but they've also been know to tromp on the East, sucker-punch the West, and fergit about those rubes in the Midwest. Right now they are somewhere out in Podunk, fleecing the local yokels. Hey, it's what big city boys do. So for all you Yankee haters out there, bring it on. My entourage consists of two Bronx bashers, Knuckles and Buster. Try to have a conversation with them, if you dare.
fini
Well, I think the Yanks will be able to handle the Twins without a problem, but will have their hands full in the ALCS, after the Rangers take care of the Rays. I predict Texas winning the ALCS in six, over the Yankees.

thebes
Ah Minnesota. The state motto is: "We're just like Wisconsin, but without the Cheese!" There're shaking the straw out of their hair, unloading the cardboard suitcases and Trailways will run them down to the Bronx. A few hours later, back on the bus for a quick stop at IHOP on their way back home.

Chris A
YANKEES MONEYBALL MACHINE. JJK That was a pretty good book - the only way that I can enjoy baseball. Otherwise, it's kind of like watching the grass grow or monohull sailboats race each other...(But my tax dollars still go to the Rangers' stadium...involuntarily.) oldtimer
That's nothing compared to what your mayor and Jerry Jones pulled off. Thebes, I am glad you are proud of your yankees, after all practically half the team are former rangers.
thebes
Why thank you OT. But I am mystified. As far as I'm concerned, where the players actually came from before they became Yankees, can only be described as "Training". Other major league teams that send us players are simply another version of Double A etc. Yes greatness does bring a certain amount of arrogance with it, but it's well earned.[]
