Hey guys, new to the board, but not the hobby. I haven't needed to complete my Klipsch system in quite a while, as I've been running 2-channel for the longest time now. I have RF-5s that I bought in 2001, and a matching center channel that's been collecting dust mostly in its box after some use a few years back. My question is simple. I finally have a room suitable for a full 5.1 set up, and I'd like to set it up. But I want to make sure that the surrounds are a suitable match (and I would prefer surrounds to bookshelves for the rear speakers).

Which, if any, surround speakers currently available from Klipsch would be a good match with my older Reference Series pieces?

Thanks for any advice/answers you can provide. Oh, I'm also running an SVS sub, fwiw.

RF-5's are sweet. Great foundation to build an HT system with. Personally, I think any of the last generation(Reference IV) RS speakers will do the trick. You may be able to find a few retailers that have them and are pushing them out at discounts. Otherwise, you will have to buy the latest generation of Reference surrounds, RS-42II, RS-52II, RS-62II.

Hey thanks for the quick reply. I'm already looking into both the RS-41II, RS-51II and RS-42II, RS-52IIs, they all look to be outstanding compliments. Can't wait to get it all set up.

That is quite a list of equipment you have, congrats! I currently have some Energy RC-10s on my turntable with a Marantz Integrated Amp. I love the Energys, but I'd like to put them to use elsewhere if I could. I was taking a look at the Heritage pieces, as I've loved them for some time. Another question I have is for turntable use, would the Klipschorns or LaScala IIs be overkill (if that's possible [:)])? If not, whats the major difference between the two. My gut tells me that I'd be perfectly happy with LaScalas, but the Klipschorns are just timeless. Thanks again.

to be honest, take a look at your local craigslist, i have had fantstic luck with it and love to buy and sell

Thanks, thats a good thought. But honestly, in this area (Norfolk), I'm not sure that I would trust craigslist. I've been witness to quite a few sketchy dealings, but its probably worth looking into anyway. When you get this specific, I suppose its easier to pick out a solid sell. Thanks.

craigslist is great if you have got the time and it can be quite sketchy, but if you tell ppl i got cash in ahand and can be there asap, people tend to deal with you more easily. bring someone with you too, never let sa door lock behind you and always carry a knife.
