cfelliot
I’m thinking of picking up a pair of KG4s to expand my hometheater from 5.2 to 7.2. The KG4s would be used as the left/right surroundswith my Heresys in the front. It’s hard to beat $100 for a pair of these. Since updating the crossover caps has worked so well for mein the past, I will probably do so with these. I have gathered as much info from various threads aboutthese speakers as I can. One elusive specification is the crossover frequency? My guess around 950Hz. The low end appears to be a 2nd order filter andthe high a 3rd. Unless the in-line fuse resistor also provides some attenuation,it appears that the low and high end have matching SPL as there are no attenuationresistors nor autoformer. Although the speakers appear to be in good shape, I worrydown the line about a blown or damaged driver. These drivers are no longermade. Are there any replacement options? T/S specs? rll
If memory serves me, the crossover is 1600hz. I put a pair of Crites' titanium tweeters in mine, which should allay your fears about drivers on that end. As for the woofers and the passives, from time-to-time they show up on Ebay. cfelliot
Good point on Ebay. Having a reserve set would be good. How did you get Bob's tweeter to go that low? I thought its limit was about 4.5kHz?
djk
In the main, how low they go is a function of the horn size.
rll
Not the CT-125, but his titanium dome replacement diaphragms. See the bottom of this page: http://www.critesspeakers.com/klipsch_tweeters.html Randy
cfelliot
My mistake. In all the times I've been on his site, I never noticed he has stuff for other Klipsch speakers besides the heritage line. Also, after a lot of searching I think I found a replacement woofer (if needed) http://w.mawebcenters.com/midwestspeaker/ecommerce/home-audio/woofers/mw-audio/mw-audio-mw-5082-8-woofer.html Thanks, Chuck
