Bigdnfay1 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Hi all, I have a pair of 511b's and 811b's. Can you use an 811b as a tweeter horn without any ill effects. I want to stack them, 811 over the 511 in a top-end configuration. BigD Quote
moray james Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 why don't you check over at the Heritage forum I am sure the Altec guys could advise you.Best regards Moray James. http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/ Quote
sfogg Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Why would you want to? If you are going to use it as a tweeter you could get a dedicated tweeter horn which will be physically much smaller and likely have better dispersion up high. Shawn Quote

Wide range midrange horns like a 811b are a compromise, like everything is. HF reproduction is probably not their strongest point. if you wanna go 3 way, go for a real tweeter designed for the task. Bigdnfay1 Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 This is not a serious project .I'm just playing around with some extra parts I have lying around. I was thinking about K-55-m's on the 511's and an altec DH2010A onthe 811's. I'll be using an active crossover(Rane AC-23). I can put them on a khorn bass bins or jub bass bins. Comments welcome.
