oldenough
Can anyone tell me if there is anything special regarding the microphones that come with an avr for setting up levels etc. The demo unit (H/K 3600) that I recently purchased did not come with one, but I can get the use of many "regular" types of mic. Anyone able to comment on the feasability of this?? Thanks...John.
Rudy81
My Integra comes with an Audyssey mic which is 'theretically' calibrated for that particular AVR.
StephenM
With Audyssey, the AVR is specifically calibrated for the setup microphone, and the combination is specified to give results within +/- 2dB across the band. Substituting a random microphone means your results will be all over the map, depending on the sensitivity of the Audyssey mic vs the other mic at any given frequency. I would expect the same holds true for the HK auto setup and EQ system.
oldenough
Thanks for the replies, I guessed it would not be that simple. I'll get in touch with H/K for a replacement mic.
leftwinger57
My Yamaha RX-V665 comes w/ a mic and fairly long cord for differing room sizes. their system is called (YPAO) Yamaha Parametric Acoustic Optimizer. It can both be viewed on screen or on the avrs' face which is kind of a pain.
