kgds
I want to get a new set of speakers , budget is $350 ea. That puts RF 42, 52's and F-30, F-20 and KF 26's into play. I will power them with a 2 ch amp for music with some TV duty. Also have a Energy ESW M-6 sub. I hope to get to a dealer in a week or two but I would like to have an idea of what each model is before I get there. What is better for music RF's or the F's or KF's? cornfedksboy
Have you thought about Heresy's? I agree. Would be a fantastic 2-channel setup for that price.

mustang guy
You should really consider the Heritage line of speakers as well. With them, you get efficiency and the ability to resell when and if needed. $350 would buy a pair of heresy's, and another $300 would buy one of those 12" Klipsch subs from newegg when they are on sale. Later you could move up to La Scalas when the budget is there. You can usually get a set of them for around a grand. You would get your $350 or more back on the Heresy's. kgds
Have you thought about Heresy's? Because the last time I was at a dealer I wasn't even going to listen to them. I couldn't imagine buying speakers that looked that bad. Fortunately I was not impressed by their sound and ended up buying something else. The aesthetics of the Heritage line isn't for everyone, nor is the sound. Heritage are boxy and big. The reason for the size is efficiency and accuracy. The reason for the boxy look has to do with manufacturing process when they were invented. I personally think vintage is classy. I also know value, and Heritage is = value. The Reference speakers are beautiful. They are also classy. My suggestion then is to shop around used and take your time. One of the most annoying things is when you pay an amount for a speaker and in a couple weeks see the exact thing for $200 less. Shop craigslist by using searchtempest. Give it about a month to really find a value...
