Perocat
Hi all, I bought 2 weeks ago, a pair of Klipsch RF7 mk II and the center channel RC-64 mk II. As sub I have an RW-12d and rear RF-82. I use a Marantz SR7005 as amplifier. My use is 90% music, wich is 90% 2ch and 10% 6ch.... The Marantz is a musical AV Receiver, but is not an amp for music! Now, I'm searching the best solution (for about 1000-1500$) to amplify propertly those 2 RF7-II for music. I read that those amp are particulary good for RF7: - NVA AP10 - Densen DM10 - Mastersound 220 se (USED) Other amp like the Marantz KI Pearl Lite, or some NADs?...... My RF7-II dealer gave me the following proposal: - ANTI-MODE DUAL-CORE 2.0 as EQ - Two mono AdvanceAcoustic MAA706 As source I use a PC with foobar2000 and WASAPI. I don't have a good sound card, so I need a good DAC or a digital stereo amp? Thank you all for any advice

willland
Are you looking to get an integrated amp or just a 2-channel amp? I have owned Marantz, B&K, NAD, Denon, and Acurus amps and the one that made the most audible difference was the Acurus. It has really awakened my RF-63's with a punch and detail I had not acheived with the other amps I owned. All were good quality amps that sounded fine but the Acurus just has something special. $1000.00 to $1500.00 will be plenty to provide you with quality amplification for your RF-7II's. If you are interested in a 2-channel amp only? http://www.spearitsound.com/Stereo_Amplifiers-NAD_C275Bee_Refurbished.html http://app.audiogon.com/listings/aragon-4004-excellent-condition--3 http://app.audiogon.com/listings/acurus-a-200 Multichannel amp? http://app.audiogon.com/listings/aragon-2007-7-ch-amplifier http://app.audiogon.com/listings/sunfire-cinema-grand-5-channel-amplifier--3 http://app.audiogon.com/listings/sunfire-cinema-grand-225-x-5-450-x-5-ohms-ps-pwer Bill
RF7X3M
From my experience I have drawn few personal guidelines - The amp has to be powerful, even if the sensitivity is rated 101dB the big woofers need a lot of current. I would go for an amp that has plenty of current and can go as low as 2ohms and even 1ohm at peaks with a lot of dynamic potential. 150 Wpc looks OK to me. Dont forget the RF-7 is 1000Wpc dynamic power! I would prefer an A CLASS amp which has high S/N ratio to make sure no harsh sounds are delivered to the horns. The amplifier should have very good micro and macro dynamic because this is where in my opinion the RF7 excels. And last , congrats on the choice for RF-7, absolutely lovely, sweeeet speaker set which will get you anywhere in the universe of music you want! Perocat
Hi everyone, Thank you for the replies !!! I live in a small town in Switzerland, whitout professional or big HiFi reseller. I would like to have some precise models to hear, so I can go abroad (Italy is not so far) and listen to those models. I need a 2CH stereo amp, with a direct final amp. input, in order to use the Marantz SR7005 as preamp and then the stereo amp as final for multichannel content (film). So, as RF7X3M wrote, is better to have a powerful amp. Can you give some other advice? Thank you! EDIT: @willand: so you suggest me the Acurus A-200 in the set you linked me? I saw that it has only one input, so cannot connect the DAC from the PC and the preamp output from the SR7005
jvanhambelgium
I've tested the RF7-MKII's with the Onkyo TX-SR875 which has a solid power-supply (weight : 22.5kg which is not bad for a HT-receiver) and it sounds very good ! Plenty of power and control. I was amazed what came out of the RF7's. There are plenty of "good" amps to drive the RF7-MKII's with, but (as stated before) make sure they have solid power circuitry ! because the 10" drivers of the Klipsch can use some juice ;-)
Eccentric Dyslexic
I am considering the RF 7 II but was considering less sensitive speakers before so have already purchased the Onkyo 5009, I know this is powerfully, but will it work well with the RF7s? Steve
jvanhambelgium
Steve, The 5009 is also a very capable receiver (even slightly more then my good old 875) and it will have no problems driving the RF7's in terms of quality and quantity as you know. Sure there are better dedicated amps, but the 5009 is no "toy" and packs a powerfull amp section! I enjoy the Onkyo + RF7-II combo anyway! 1 note... the RF7's are (to my experience) not so easy in placement (back bass-ports) ... leave plenty of space between the back/side walls and the units...
