smokejag Posted May 28, 2002 Share Posted May 28, 2002 I am looking to get some new front left and right speakers i have a very nice JBL center already and a 12" MTX woofer. I'm looking for ones that are floor standing so i dont have to buy stands for them. My questions is since i have the woofer i know i dont need a whole lot of low freq coming out of the fronts but if I buy a pair that have a robust low freq ability is it goign to compete with my woofer and cancel eachother out? Guest BobG Posted May 28, 2002 Share Posted May 28, 2002 The subwoofer will have a crossover control so that it reproduces the deepest bass notes and your main speakers reproduce all the music above that point. This eliminates the problem of competition between the mains and the sub. Remember it's always best to have a completely matched group of speakers.
