Moderators dtel Posted December 20, 2012 Moderators Share Posted December 20, 2012 Get a Squeezebox Touch...They are discontinued now, but you can find them on e-bay once in awhile. That would work, I went to look at them a couple of weeks ago and found they were discontinued. I do have an older laptop I could use and just leave it up by the stereo connected to the DAC, I guess I need to see what soundcard it has, I know nothing about soundcards. It did sound good with MOG before so maby it's OK ? Wouldn't a better soundcard be an improvement, can they even be changed in a laptop, or not worth the trouble. ? Either way for me internet radio is the way to go, I love it.
Thaddeus Smith
can't upgrade the internal soundcard but you can add a usb soundcard/dac and configure windows to run all audio through that instead of the internal soundcard. options range from $30 to $500+, though at some point i think you reach a point of diminishing returns when considering the source material (it is still streaming music, even if it's awesome 320kbps)
o0O Bill O0o
MOG is great but doesn't has as many songs as Rhapsody. Even at 192kbps the user interface, chart listings, recommedations, etc. are still better.
Cut-Throat
MOG is great but doesn't has as many songs as Rhapsody. Even at 192kbps the user interface, chart listings, recommedations, etc. are still better. This review does not agree with you. http://www.gadgetreview.com/2012/09/mog-vs-rhapsody.html And my main reason for liking MOG is the Sound Quality! From the review : Sound Quality Audiophiles will LOVE MOG because it streams at up to 320kbps all the time (CD quality non-stop!). Rhapsody’s sound quality is: 256kbps CBR MP3 for purchased tracks and 192kbps CBR MP3 for streaming to home audio devices. It’s 128kbps AAC when streamed via a PC and 64kbps ACC+ or 192kbps AAC for streamed or downloaded tracks to Android devices, while iOS ones are 64 kbps ACC+. Winner: MOG’s 320kbps takes this one! Catalogue According to MOG, they have 15 million tracks, and have deals with the likes of Sony Music and Universal Music group. Oh, and music producer Rick Rubin is on their board of directors. Rhapsody is said to have more than 13 million titles in their music catalog. BUT they also teamed up with MTV Networks so members sometimes get music before it hits stores. Winner: MOG
o0O Bill O0o
Yes, I don't agree with that review. Try this, Copy a CD to your computer in 192 and 320 kbps and then have the album in the same playlist with different bit rates.. play on shuffle. CECAA850
Sounds great to me. Question. Today while using MOG, I'd get stoppage during the song as it played. The load bar normally travels L to R but for some reason, the load bar was going back and forth while the song was playing. Has anyone else experienced this?? It's the only time it's ever done that.
