hornlover60
Audiophiles, I need your input and knowledge. I have a chance to purchase La Scalas with Crites cast bass, tweeter and crossovers. They physically look beat up and are stored in a barn. Or I could purchase a pair of original La Scalas that are more attractive to the eye and are stock for the same amount of money. As far as the Crites modified La Scalas go, has anyone made these modifications and how happy are you with them? Or should I look into ALK modifications for crossovers and speakers for the La Scalas? Any input you could offer would greatly be appreciated. Thank you in advance, hornlover60
mustang guy
I would get the nicer looking ones for the simple reason that a capacitor swap may be all you need to be 100% happy with them, and that's cheap. Refinishing a beat up LaScala is a HUGE job.

NCBlueTJ
Agreed. I am just now completing a La Scala re-finish job. Took me almost two years' worth of free time. I'm very happy with the results, and I got them for a song ($300), but it was a major ordeal to get them looking good again.
NCBlueTJ
Or buy them both, swap the good parts into the pretty cabs, and then sell the beat up stockers. Best of both worlds.
