kp-250's + kp-115 sub VS. kp-301-ii-a's

Current DJ set up is 2 kp-250's and a kp-115 subwoofer.

They are connected to a QSC USA 1310 amp, I believe one channel for the 2 kp-250's (daisy chained) and one channel for just the kp-115 sub.

Considering running 2 kp-301-ii-a's (without the subwoofer?), one channel per kp-301-ii-a.

Play mostly smaller bars but am interested in how these two set ups compare. Would I be gaining something if I went to the two kp-301-ii-a set up.

I understand they're heavier (82lbs each) but maybe I could leave the kp-115 subwoofer home.

Welcome any feedback,

Thanks,

Hennepin

I have not looked at them.

His "firm price" was too high to interest me.

Plus "newly repainted" and "modified to accept" and "woofer sitting below a two inch horn"...

It should be a MAJOR step up from the KP-250.

As to letting go of bringing the 115, I'm no DJ but having owned all of the units in question (still have the 301's) I will say this.

If you were totally satisfied with the 250's and 115's then you SHOULD BE about as happy with the 301's alone.

Just 2 cents from an outsider, some REAL DJ's ought to stop by and give you (at least) 2 more cents each - lol.

If every driver works well and the NL4 speakon mod was not botched and the paint job was not botched and he came down a hundred bucks or so...

Then I would have dragged them home already.

But I don't need them; the hundred bucks might not be an issue for you...

(PS, if any of the drivers are fried, get the price down and give me a call, I keep replacements for all.)

You guys know I LOVE the KP301's and despise the KP115 so that's my vote. I'm doing mods on all my pro stuff to NL4, it's the connector of choice these days. THey exactly retrofit the locking 1/4" jacks and so long as the wiring is correct nothing can go wrong there. They still pole mount although it's a hefty lift. Still, one guy can lift these into the back of truck bed or van pretty easily. I'll say it again, they're the best sounding single pro box Klipsch has ever made. The II has the K604 60 degree horn so will push to the back of a room or outdoors better than KP250 or KP301. What's an 'a' model anyway, usually in pro terms that's a basic box for install use, no road hardware.
