Firmware updates

Is the firmware update on the Klipsch site really the most recent available (from 2011-10-30 / 3.8.93.3700
) really the newest? While I imagine work is mostly going into the new devices, seems like there should be bugfixes (and at least fixes for embarassing typos like "Advance[sic] Settings" in the web interface).

Also, has anyone had problems with network settings not persisting after configuration? I can configure the network and get the device to join after hitting 'apply', but I don't see the settings when I go back to the web interface (though my password is still there upon reselecting the SSID, encryption type, cipher, etc.). If it makes a difference, my SSID is not being broadcasted, though I can join it by manually entering it.

Additionally, it seems as if the device may be broadcasting DHCP on the default subnet (192.168.1.0/24) even after a reboot -- since having it on my network, my wife's phone keeps getting assigned a DHCP IP in 192.168.1.0/24 instead of within the subnet that my DHCP server assigns IPs within. I haven't been able to actually capture the traffic yet, but I'll poke around at it a little more when I have a chance.

I have also been seeing occasional dropouts.

i've been at this firmware update business for days now with no luck!

what should be a pretty straightforward streamlined process is so horribly implemented i can't imagine a company like klipsch, which until now i held in high regard, can be so bad at it.

Once i'm on the g17 page, i go into firmware update and click ok (i've NEVER EVER seen this kind of implementation before), and thats when it gets stuck. the page just wont go further. i click on the "click here" link it directs you to press if things dont work, and that just takes me to the internet and tells me the page is not found.

I'm actually a computer and networking advanced user so i havent just tried the basic things, i've thrown all my knowledge at it but it always ends up exactly the same way - the red light on g17 starts blinking, and the g17 page in safari just won't progress any further. i have to turn off the speaker for it to restart. and then i have to reconfigure it.

I have tried this on osx (10.7, 10.8 AND 10.9!), and windows (xp and 7).

I have changed my routers dhcp from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1 to see if it was an issue with the default network it uses.

I have tried safari, chrome AND internet explorer.

i have also tried updating the firmware by a wifi direct connection to the g17. i.e. putting g17 into config mode, then connecting my computer wifi directly to it.

i have tried using its ip address that seems to be factory programmed as default, 192.168.1.12.

I've turned off my repeaters and other equipment on my network.

I've directed my router to assign an ip address to the g17 based on mac address, in case there was some confusion in the firmware update html code as to which ip to go to.

I have actually used other brand routers. I have linksys routers around (WRT54G and wrt610n and e3000) and ubiquiti power ap n plus a few other brands.

I have tried default router firmwares, as well as dd wrt firmwares.

absolutely NOTHING has worked.

I own THREE of these speakers. none of them gets to the firmware upload page. and all of them constantly stutter when i play music through them. I purchased them at full price when the speakers first came out and so far i dont think i've even gotten a days use out of them thats how glitchy they are.

Despite all the previous troubles, i was still willing to give klipsch another chance, figuring sure, its a new market, and i took that risk. but to get hung up on such a BASIC thing like a firmware update is just ridiculous. I patiently hoped there would be a firmware update but had given up hope. and then i saw the update and figured this should resolve some issues. but thats been useless so far.

I hope klipsch is able to resolve this or i'm never touching another piece of their equipment ever again.

I'm having same problem. When attempting to apply Firmware, the WiFi signal from the Klipsch G17 just dies and I have to turn the unit off and then on. Sound like a common problem.

Where is Klipsch Support on this. I just sent a Tweet too. See if that gets their attention!

Klipsch, Where are YOU?
