Escher
So - Love my new baby's... and I'm already thinking about what I can do to help them out if need be. So - are there recommendations to recap them? Or do most folks just leave them alone? If you have recapped them, was there a noticeable improvement? Thanks in advance - and yes, I know I just got them... I'm a tinkerer!! I cant help myself!
Deang
AudioCap Thetas in series with the horn and Mills resistors in the high pass section - you can leave everything else alone. I don't think there's a LCR in the RF-3 or RC-3.
Travis5454
Hello, stumbled across this older thread and am now curious about my setup. I have RC-7, RF-3's, and a pair of RS-3's in living room. They sound great but should I do any updates as far as capping or resistors given they are about 20 years old?

Deang
It's not very likely that any of those parts are end-of-life. I actually don't know how long a dry, axial wound cap lasts. I do know that any epoxy oval shaped just doesn't really sound very good to me. I would always change out the resistors for Mills. It will be up to you to decide what you think about these kinds of things.

I just got the DeanG mods done on my RF7’s and they are in the mail on their way back to me.
jjptkd
I replaced the caps and resistors in a pair of rf3s not too long ago with nothing fancy partsexpress stuff and I thought it made an improvement in clarity worth the effort imo
