Well I couldn't resist Hogfan's La Scalas.[:D] Great price and he's only about 10 minutes away from my house. It was great getting to meet another forum member.

I've got them resting snug in my garage right now. I will give them a listen tonight--which means I'll have to find a temporary spot for the cornwalls [*-)]

My plan was to patiently wait for some khorns to come to me, but lately I've been a little worried that my less than perfect corners would have me frustrated if/when I got some khorns. So, I had kind of settled on just keeping the cornwalls, which sound great in those corners. Well, then I saw Hogfan's post yesterday morning and the wheels went to spinning again.

So, the new plan (for now) is to listen to the LS for a while, then CW's again and ultimately decide who gets to stay. If its the LS, I may want to supplement them with a sub. I'll have to see. I've heard it both ways all over this forum as to whether they need a sub or not. They will be soley for 2-channel music--as the RF-7 II's handle the ht duties. At some point in the near future I will have to make a tough decision, because I already know I'm not going to want to part with either one.

I'll get some pictures up of them in there new home soon.

That's just not right... [;)] I drove from Georgia to northern Illinois to pick up my LS. Of course it was while on another trip.

I'm sure you will enjoy them, and they are a fine looking set.

I think once you listen to the La Scalas you will know that they are the keepers. I heard some Cornwalls and thought that they were unimpressive untill a sub was hooked up with them. At that time I had Chorus IIs and now have La Scala's and have not looked back. ENJOY! [8]

Well, I gave em a pretty good listen last night. And.........they're stayin[:D]. At first I wasn't 100% sold. The mid-range is rediculous, but I wasn't quite hearing the thump that I'm use to. I then popped in some Pink Floyd, The Wall Live, and that did it. The bass is pretty respectable. I have them in the corners of the room about 18' appart toed in about 25-30 degrees. I experimented with tilting them back a little. I put 1x4 under the front. I think I liked them a little better tilted. The longer I listened the better they sounded[:D] Oh, and Wife likes them too. At first she was like "Those look like some home-made wooden boxes you built in the garage", but she warmed up to them. It took her a little while to warm up to the cornwalls too. She doesn't like change, but after she sees the change is good, then she's ok. with it.

The best part is I don't think I'm gonna have to part with the cornwalls either--not sure where I'm gonna put them but they're stayin too.[:D] My wife thinks I'm crazy, but she gets just as attached to them as I do. She is definitely a Klipsch gal. Her favorites are still the RF-7 II's. She says those are her speakers. I like them too. I've convinced her that you don't have to like one better than the other. It's ok to love them all.

Back to the La Scalas-- I took some pics, but I can't seem to get my memory card to work with my work computer. I'll have to upload them when I get home. One question about the name-- La Scala. What's the story with that name. I know where and why on the other heritage names, but I don't know where la scala came from. I never really researched them that much, because quite frankly they never really were my favorites. I didn't see my self ending up with them. Funny how things work out[:D] They will likely be with me a long time. Khorns may happen some day, but I'm done looking (for a while).

I'm still not sure about to sub or not to sub though. I think I'll probably end up getting one, but I'll have to find one that can keep up with the la scalas. I didn't try my SW-450's with them because I don't think they're up to it. Anyway, end result--love love love the la scalas. Thanks Hogman--yer not getten em back[:D]

Lascala is an opera house in Milan Italy.

Thanks.

One other thing I didn't mention. They do go loud with ease. I didn't push them too loud. I did read 109 dB at one point--standing about 20' away from them. They sounded like they could do more. I don't really have a need to listen that loud. I'm sure I'll try it again though--when I'm showin em off[:)]

That first listening sessin is always fun. Let them settle in for a few weeks so you can really get a good comparison. Good to have the option to keep the cornwalls too. Have fun!

Yea, I'm looking forward to it. My wife and I spend a lot of time listening to records on the weekend, and I recently added a cd player and cassette deck to the 2-channel mix.

I'm very happy about keeping the cornwalls. My goal is to set up a little 2-channel system in the bedroom with a vintage receiver. I'll have to be delicate with this one though. She's not ready for me to bring up putting the CW's in the bedroom[6]
