Guest David H
This was my first attempt at a scratch build amplifier so I had some growing pains, however I love the sound and am pleased with the finished product. Major parts used. Power transformer - Dynaclone PA-774 Output transformers - Transcendar TT-312-OT Choke - Hammond 10H PT-193J Output tubes - Sophia mesh plate 300B With the exception of a few value changes, this is built from the Shannon Parks GET*SET*GO schematic. Guest David H
Under side Justin Webber had the chassis support built, that worked perfect as a board mount., and stiffens up the chassis nicely.

Guest David H
I did some practice engraving on the two spare transformer covers. I am pleased with the outcome, but have a lot to learn about engraving.
Marvel
Dave, that looks super! I have thought about a PTP version of that amp as well, but doing his 2A3 version. I like it... [] Bruce
sasqwatch
Nice job I would be curious how many amps per channel and roughly what does it cost to build something like it Stacy

Guest David H
Thanks for the comments. This amp is approximately 7wpc with SS rectification, tube rectified 5wpc. Cost of this build was right about $1K Dave
Daddy Dee
Dave, beautiful work bro. very cool amp. what kind of engraving outfit are you using? are you doing that on your cnc?
Guest David H
Thanks Dee. This was my first attempt at engraving with my CNC machine. Dave
Guest David H
Update, I have been running this amp for about a week now, and still very pleased with the performance. I contribute much of this to the 300B Meshplate tubes. The only problem I have now is the desire to build another. Dave
mikebse2a3
Dave I like your engraving detail and the mesh plates look cool[Y] My experience with designs similar to this one is it pays to have a good source (pre-amp, etc....) capable of driving the input stage otherwise they tend to be a little soft in dynamics...but...you can sure listen for hours without listener fatigue either way. mike tn ps..have you tried the 2A3 version for comparison? Guest David H
ps..have you tried the 2A3 version for comparison? I have not tried the 2a3, I am sure it sounds great. Dave
jcmusic
Dave, I had a Sophia Electric 300B for years until I got my 45 amp, the Sophia Mesh tubes are good but, to save you some money try the TJ Mesh tubes. They are the exact same tubes made in the same factory...
Guest David H
to save you some money try the TJ Mesh tubes. They are the exact same tubes made in the same factory... You are absolutely correct, however I couldnt find TJ tubes any cheaper, I looked. Dave
jcmusic
Well Dave in that case the only other option to me would be the expensive EML tubes but, they are a step above anything else out there in my opinion.. Jay
