The pb-13 ultra is $400 more but if your going to run just one sub for movies imo it would be 400 well spent (of course i don't know what the price is for you). Im sure the sb-13 is great for movies too but just thinking that added output might be worth it.

When I bought my PC13-Ultra, I didn't want to leave any bass at the store.

Now, seeing how hot I have to run it, I will be getting a 2nd to take the pressure off the 1st.

kmx, I would get the biggest sub you can afford. You definitely won't be disappointed with the SB13-Ultra. If you can swing it, I would get the PB13-Ultra. [li]

Yea i actually want the PB13-Ultra but it has no shot at getting past my wife.

That front corner is our entrance way, i think i have a battle on my hands getting the SB13U over the line

I cant see any other logical place i could put a PB13U unfortunately.

This is how a PB13U would fit my room. Half of that window top right is a sliding door.

I grabbed the pic from a review of the sb-13 (they are not mine). Looking at your room pic i didn't realize that was a sliding glass door. Its the main draw back of the pb being so big it wont just sit anywhere and not be in the way. Whats on the other side opposite of the glass door? Is that a door too? or just a wall? The sb will still have a ton of bass and as you said you said you won't find a bad review anywhere on it so if thats your max size then i would go with that. We all have room limits we have to work with.

In a little more or less than 2000 cubic feet, the SB13 Ultra would be perfect. The boundry gain from the 6ft x 5ft pocket placement could possibly get the response flat to about 16Hz. The space essentially would act as a horn and magnify into the open space in the room.

Here is a review of the SB13 Plus.

Here's just one early look at an SB13-Plus sub's "in-room"
frequency response (FR), the green trace below. This in a 2000 ft^3
theater room vs. "quasi-anechoic" (purple trace) FR – Note, this is
"uncorrected" raw response, yet notably flat to 10 Hz with room gain
typical of such a space:

Could you move the sub all the way over to the left opposite the sliding glass door? and then move it up to where the front of the sub is flush with the wall that you have your tv and speakers?

Yea i thought about this position. It will be tight not to obstrcut the door behind it.

I seriously doubt my wife will let this fly.

This is what i think my potential SB13U positions can be. Will be interesting to see which gives the best results.

Im guessing position 1 as its got that corner area or maybe position 5 but i think it will be too directional there.

Let's just assume position 2 and 3 are a serious WAF no go. For maximum impact for HT, position 5 might be the best. Position 4 "looks" like it would offer smoothest results for music. Position 1 may be the best compromise for music and movies, some boundry gain but also unobstructed aim to listening positions.

I am no expert but have spent countless hours over the last 1 1/2 years integrating different and multiple subs into my HT setup. If you are able to get the SB13 Ultra, get it home and do some serious trial and error with both music and HT. While the SB13 Ultra is by no means small(17x17x17 inches, 93lbs), it is manageable if you have to move it around.

Bill i see your point and agree.

You know, you are not required to agree.[:D]

I was just giving the op another option to think about.

If Ken's room was 3000+ ft^3 and not so cut up, I would be right there with you.

The pb subs are monster ht subs and i have no hands on with the sb line.

They swallow the SB13's and I have no hands on experience with PB13's, only fine fellows like yourself, Jeff Tubbs, Scrappydue, and others enthusiastic endorsements.[Y][Y]
